At An Ordinariate Parish, Sacred Music for the Feast of the Ascension

One of the greatest gifts that the Personal Ordinariate of the Chair of St. Peter has brought to the larger Catholic Church is its reverence for and commitment to the liturgy, especially in the area of sacred music.  Over at Aleteia, Zoe Romanowsky has written about how Mount Calvary Church in downtown Baltimore wove Palestrina, Finzi, and Gregorian Chant into last week’s celebration of the Ascension, as well as this Victoria selection:

Christ ascending on high, alleluia. 

Hath led captivity captive, alleluia. 

He made this gift to men, alleluia.

God ascends amid jubilation, 

and the Lord with the sound of the trumpet, alleluia.
