The CHNetwork Weekly Roundup #024

October 21, 2016 No Comments

Once again, it’s time for our weekly roundup of original and curated Catholic content for converts and the curious!  Here are a few items of interest that we’ve been working on over the last few days:

*****

Neesha and David Oliver, a couple who were once on the path to the pastorate in the Church of the Nazarene, shared their story on this week’s episode of The Journey Home.

In this week’s Written Story, Carl Loewenstine, a veteran baseball scout whose work has paid off in two World Series championships, talked about how his journey toward the Catholic Church began with a locked door at a Lutheran church.

On the latest episode of Deep in Scripture, Dr. Jim Papandrea explained what the “traditions of men” were that St. Paul warned the Colossians against following.

For #ThrowbackThursday,  we found a 1999 episode of The Journey Home where Marcus interviewed Suzette and Suzelle Gill– the only time we’ve ever had twins on the show!

Many of our team members were on retreat this week in Biddeford, Maine– we look forward to sharing more about the fruit the Holy Spirit has been bearing in people’s lives soon!

And our CHNetwork Community answered the question, “How big of a deal was missing Sunday worship to you before you became Catholic?”

Elsewhere around the web…

The Atlantic looked at the phenomenon of Iranian refugees in Germany converting to Christianity.

At Catholic Exchange, Brian Kranick looked at how the coming of Jesus fulfilled Jewish Fall feasts.

The Catholic Herald (UK) looked at the conversion of poet Sally Read from atheism to Catholicism.

Matt Nelson from the blog Reasonable Catholic debunked the argument that Jesus came to abolish the priesthood.

At The Integrated Catholic Life, Joannie Watson shared four tips for people who find praying the rosary difficult.

As always, keep checking CHNetwork.org for continuously updated content, and be sure to share this roundup with anyone you know who might be interested in what we do at The Coming Home Network!  And while you’re at it, if you haven’t already, please check out our  CHNetwork Community Forum– it’s a great place to meet our members who are either converts to Catholicism or currently in the process of becoming Catholic!
