As has happened to others, I am facing the loss of family. Though my wife tries to blame it on my becoming catholic as "the last straw," it really is finances. This is a major difficulty for many couples, and we made mistakes that tore us apart. Please especially pray for my teenage, almost grown children, that they will maybe learn from our mistakes.  This trouble has been building for years, but now she is getting ready to move out and begin, "no-fault" divorce. There are no grounds for divorce, but after a year seperated, it is automatic for the most part.

So sad to hear this, Monte. I know what a struggle it was for you to make it this far, and how much you wanted complete reconciliation. You are in my prayers.

And while we are in a praying mood, I was notified yesterday that my 87-year-old mother had fallen. No bones broken, in spite of her osteoporosis, but she spent the night on the floor, unable to get up. She is in the hospital, reportedly very weak and suffering from UTI and very high blood sugar (600) which is not responding very well to treatment. Prognosis is guarded.

Prayers, my brethren, for these needy souls.

David

You are in my prayers, Monte. Keep to the high road.

And, David, I pray God's grace over your mom's situation.

Dear Monte,

I am so-o-o sorry to hear your news. It weighs so heavily on my heart every time I hear someone's going through a divorce. It is so contrary to God's plan. I feel for you and I will certainly keep you in my prayers. Keep in mind that it isn't over til it's over. Thus I will pray for a reconciliation for you. There is hope. Pray a novena to St. Jude, and lots of rosaries. Whatever happens, pray for what's best; I will pray for that for both you and your wife.
Please know that my prayers and sympathies are with you. I would like to leave you with one of my favorite passages, which is in Sir 2... actually just read the whole chapter... when I first read this chapter and fell in love with it, 3 themes jumped out at me: Trust in God (even in, and especially during, trials and humiliations, for, as it says in v. 5: "For gold and silver are tried in fire, but acceptable men in the furnace of humiliation."), Hope in God, and the Mercy of God (v. 23: "For according to his greatness, so also is his mercy with him." - that's from the Douay-Rheims, but there's another translation that says it better for me... "For greater than his justice is the mercy that he shows" or something like that...)

Anyway, the point is... just keep the faith, OK? It will see you through this somehow.

And David, I will pray for your mother also. May the Lord heal her and give her strength for the Journey, whichever way it's leading her...

God bless +
JMJ

Monte, I'm so sorry.  I know the struggle.

David, Let your mother know you have a family here that cares about her.

Am praying for you both, today.

Love, Laura
