I'm starting a temporary job tomorrow morning, filling in for a school secretary who badly needs to take her vacation time.  Please pray that I don't die of boredom!  There's no more dreary place in the world than a school office in the summer!  And also that my neck and back will hold out for ten hours at a desk/ computer.  This will last for five weeks, so I'll have to catch up with all the posts in the evenings.  Will miss all of you! Pray hard!! ;)

Dear Marsha, how was your first day?  Do you have to be there ten full hours?  I'd die too!  I hope this temporary assignment will prove to be a blessing in disguise.

Elizabeth

I'll certainly pray that you have or can find something to pass the time.

I used to volunteer in the church office for the secretary while she would take vacation time.  VEEEEERRRRRY SLLLLLLLOOOOW.  I would get up often to stretch, bring my rosary (which you may not be able to do in a public school office) but I would defineately bring a book. (I don't leave home without one).  I strangely am never bored, You can try and learn to contemplate the misteries of the rosary in silence in your mind, where no one can tell what your doing?  I have somehow oddley learned how to do some contemplitive type of thing, I think it was due to the first year I was sick, I thought I may loose my mind haveing to be laying down most of the time.  Going from a busy life of full time employment and doing the super mom thing, I went to having to lay in bed or recliner 24 X7 in a matter of just a few days, Boy was that overwelming in boredom.

Good luck, we will miss you!  please come to visit as often as possible.

Betty

Thanks Betty and Elizabeth for thinking of me!  The first day wasn't so bad because they had a pile of things for me to do, but now the pile is done and tomorrow I'll be the only one there!  I will take a book for sure, and my Magnificat.  Maybe a lot of people will come in the day after the Fourth to register their dear little ones but I kind of doubt it.  During the school year there's not a minute to turn around it's so busy, but during the summer sometimes the mailman is the only person I see.  We work ten hour days for four days and have Friday off.  The school district thinks it saves energy.  I'm looking forward to having my usual free time again to read through the posts, old and new.
