There is a parish that I want to join.  It seems, though, that every time I try to reach out, my attempts are dashed.  I had emailed them about their RCIA program, they told me that they would get back to me but they never did.  Then my friend invited me to go to her youth group (I didn't even know that she went there.)  So I attended one of those and wanted to go again to get to meet some people.  However the only time that I could go again and wasn't busy, I got sick.  Seriously, the one day that I have gotten sick during the summer had to be that day.  Then I made an appointment to go to Confession.  My dad never showed up (again the only day that that happened) to take my brother to soccer so my mother had to take him there instead and I ended up being ten or fifteen minutes late and the preist wasn't there. I also tried to get my driver's license, and, quite honestly the only reason I wanted that thing was to go to daily mass and I failed that.  I don't know what's going on, maybe God is trying to tell me something.  I need prayers because I am going to try to contact that parish again and I really want them to reply and for it to work out.  It's the only parish that has RCIA on Wednesdays and daily mass times that work well for my school schedule.

Thanks and God bless,
Hillary

Been there, done that! I made plans to try going to Mass and "checking it out". I got so sick I had thoughts about going to the ER. I could not remember the last time I had been that sick. I knew I was VERY apprehensive about going to church so I chalked it up to my mind playing tricks on me. Then I decided to go to RCIA and found out there was only 1 meeting left for that year's RCIA group. Another defeat. I began to wonder the same things that you have mentioned. I decided that maybe the Devil was trying to disturb my plans so I re-made my plans to attend the next RCIA group and started attending Mass. Next came some rather severe harassment from my wife (She is VERY anti-Catholic.). However, I kept working toward my goal, completed my RCIA studies and I have been a member of my local parish for a couple of years, now. In retrospect, I think I was actually sick, my wife does not like change and God is more effective than the Devil so it all worked out fine. I think I also learned that there are times when I must let the Holy Spirit do its work on my behalf.

I wish you all the best on your Journey. :)

CALL them rather than emailing. Ask to speak to the priest. Tell him what you told us. If he doesn't understand, that is not the parish for you. Or maybe it is, but God for some reason wants you to join through another parish, as I had to do.:?

Annie is right. Call and talk to the priest. I have found most parishes are lousy about email.

You'll be fine - God wants you received into the Church so you can get to confession even more than you! Just keep at it, girl!

Let's pray that you quickly find a priest to give you instruction.
