I would like to request prayer concerning a new job I will be starting in a few weeks.  I will be working as a general music teacher for a Catholic school not far from where I live.  I signed the contract yesterday and noted that I have a 90 day probationary period where I can be fired for any reason.  I know this is standard procedure but it still distresses me.  Also, my classes will be much larger than at the old school I taught at where 20 was the maximum in a class.  Here I will have 35 in 6th grade, which for me seems like a lot.  I feel like I don't have much room for mistakes, but that might just be my anxiety talking.  I was just getting comfortable with my old job but the drive was making it hard to continue working there (I was driving about 50 minutes to work back and forth - now it will be between 10 and 15 minutes to work).  Please pray that I will look with confidence on this new position and try to see the good in working with even middle schoolers- not my favorite age by any means!

Dear Pam, I worked with middle schoolers for twelve years!  They can be darlings and they can be insufferable.  They come into 6th grade as short little fearful things and then grow two feet taller and think they know more than you do by the time they go to high school!  Hormones are bouncing off the walls!  Good luck, I'm sure you'll do well and hopefully from time to time you can get in a little hidden faith lesson as well.
