I will be attending a pro-life counselor training this afternoon, tomorrow, and the following weekend. I'll be learning about how to save moms and their babies from abortion :) Please help me with your prayers to find out if God wants me in this apostolate.

Angie

Angie

I'll pray for your situation and what God is wanting in your life at this time.  I've found in my own personal troubles that the best one can do when your in a difficult time.  Is reach out and help others.  I read this in one of Fr. Benedict Groeschels books "Arise From Darkness".  It's a very good book and I highly recomend it for those suffering any type of troubles.  Personal or spiritual.  I've re-read the book several times now and I also keep one on hand to give to others that may benefit from the book too.

I'll pray that this works out for you also.

God Bless and Take Care

Betty

So what did you find out, Angie?  Being a counselor in this regard has fascinated me, as well.  I couldn't picket or pray in front of a clinic, but I would love to help women who chose abortion to see that God really does love them and forgives them.

Hi Ali,

Sorry I did not respond to you before but I've been very busy working extra hours in my classroom. The training is so wonderful I don't even know where to begin... Sister Paula (our instructor) has been in the pro-life movement for over 30 years. She's counseled extensensively and has trained many pregnancy center counselors. The statistics about abortion are pretty sad.
Every day there are 4,000 abortions happening in this country, can you believe these numbers? So we learned the basic attitudes of the counselor. By the way, we are not called counselors but "consultants" since we are not licenced and we will be providing short-term crisis prevention. In this field, we cannot be judgemental. We need to embrace the sinner. We also talked about contraceptives, what to say and what to avoid when counseling a "client," adoption, and post-abortion counseling in a short-term setting. Like I said, it's been an amazing training so far. I have one more session to attend on October 7. After that, it will be my decision wheather to continue in this ministry or not. My friend, the center director who gave me the invitation, is hoping the Holy Spirit will reveal to me that this is where I am needed. I hope so, too :)
Blessings,
Angie

Ps
In the past, I've gone to a pro-life march and also went to pray the rosary outside the abortion clinics. I felt somewhat overwhelmed for both the moms and their babies.
