I know I have been in many of your prayers and I am so thankful for that. I have a couple of special requests. Lately at night when I go to bed my room becomes incredible oppressed. It is the only way I can think to describe it. I felt like I was choking the other night and like someone sitting on my chest. It was pretty scary for me. Some of the most horrible thoughts have come to my mind. All I could think to do was say the Hail Mary (which in it self is pretty odd because she has been one of my biggeest obstacles coming to the Church). I couldn't meditate on anything (I was scared of where my mind would go); I just focused on the words. I have no doubt that this relates to me coming into the Church in a week from Sunday. If God is allowing me to go through this for a reason I am ok with that, please just pray that I will turn to him and not despair or to fall into the temptation of allowing these things to overcome me.

As I have re-read this post, I know it sounds odd (believe me it is weirder to me then you). I have never experienced anything on this level before. I don't think I am adequetely explaining what is going on. Please pray.

Thank you all for your support. God bless.

Esther

Dear Esther,

I will pray that you are surrounded with God's Holy Angels and that you sense the presence of Christ our Lord.  I also know what it is like to be aware of an evil presence and the only thing I could at the time is call upon the name of the Lord to save me.

I will think of and pray for you tonight while meditating on the mysteries of the Most Holy Rosary.

God Be With You,

Darlene

Oh, Dear Esther:

I understand what your talking about, When I went through some similar experiences I finally went and told Father.  He told me that it certainly was the Evil One, and No he did not want me to continue, I think the Evil one know's just how powerful Our Lord is in his sacraments.  He knows how much stronger you'll be too.  The Hail Mary is a great prayer.  She will help you.  Sometimes I would become so bothered I'd not even be able to remember the words.  So I would just repeat "Jesus Mercy" until it would go away.

Do you know the St. Michael Prayer?

St. Michael the Archangel,
defend us in battle.
Be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the Devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray,
and do thou,
O Prince of the heavenly hosts,
by the power of God,
thrust into hell Satan,
and all the evil spirits,
who prowl about the world
seeking the ruin of souls. Amen..

I also recite the Jesus prayer quite often:  Lord Jesus Christ, the only son of God, (While Inhaling deep) Have mercy on me a sinner (While exhaling)

I'll continue praying for you.  Your going to do just great.  Satan has no power over you as long as you reject his temptations.

May the peace of Christ be with you this night and evermore.

Betty

Darlene,

You are right on target, call upon the name of the Lord. Simply singing and speaking Jesus is Lord, and worshipping him is holding out a light against the darkness. The prayer of Hail Mary recognizes the one who was NOT deceived, but rather trusted God's plan and was perfectly obedient. The enemies of our souls cannot stand this fact.

God Bless you each night.

Here are some night prayers I googled:

Saint Augustine left us this lovely night prayer:

"Watch O Lord with those who wake, or watch, or weep tonight, and give Your Angels and Saints charge over those who sleep. Tend Your sick ones, dear Lord, rest Your weary ones, bless Your dying ones, soothe Your suffering ones, pity Your afflicted ones, shield Your joyous ones, and all for Your Love's sake."

This lovely prayer by Cardinal Newman is a gentle closure for the day:

"May God support us all the day long, 'till the shadows lengthen and the evening comes, and the busy world is hushed, and the fever of life is over, and our work is done! Then, in His mercy, may He give us a safe lodging and a holy rest, and peace at the last."

Saint Michael the Archangel is often invoked for his protection of us against Satan and his wiles. A lovely prayer to Saint Michael before going to sleep is:

"Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in the day of battle. Be our safeguard against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host, cast down to hell Satan and all his wicked spirits who wander through the world for the ruin of souls"

"Lately at night when I go to bed my room becomes incredible oppressed."

Esther,

Even as a cradle Catholic, I have experienced similar things. One of the things that I find most helpful in this kind of situation (we know it's from the Evil One... he tries to be subtle, but sometimes he's pretty obvious...) is to pray the Rosary. He hates that. He hates that Mary didn't fall prey to his temptations like Eve did, and so he can't stand her. One reason he can't stand her is because he's afraid of her. He knows he has no power over her, and he never did. And because of that, she has it all over him. She triumphed over him and he finds that galling. He knows that all she has to do is direct people to Jesus and say, "Do what He tells you," and if they do, he's lost. So go to your Mother, and she will help you.

Also, make use of those other sacramentals! Sometimes if I'm feeling particularly fearful at night, for instance, I will go around my house and sprinkle holy water around all my doors and windows and pray to God that He will send His angels to guard my house and that they would let no evil enter it. Somehow it makes me feel a little more protected, a little less vulnerable to the Evil One.

I will pray for you and all the others on here. Please pray for me, too.

JMJ

This is just to let you know Esther, that I have been continuing to keep you in prayer since I first read your request.

It is so frightening to know Satan wants you so badly, but that just means he is frightened of YOU!  You are running to the King he ran from.  He is losing, again.  You are victorious with Christ.

Please lt us know how you are doing.

Love,

Laura
