I would ask that you please pray for our family tomorrow (Sunday, Feb. 3).

Many of you have read my posts about my daughter and her involvement with a neopagan.

She now has told us that they have been having ongoing conversations about Catholicism.  She also said that he is interested in attending Mass.  He wants to meet us for lunch tomorrow to get to know us better and see if he does truly wish to come to Mass sometime.

This was the last thing we expected.  So please pray for us.  If you could offer a prayer at any time of day, God will hear it.  We are scheduled to meet him at noon Eastern Standard time.

Thanks to all!

God is good!  Remember that Jesus never pushed anyone.  He planted seeds.  He called them to follow him.  Only then did he teach them.  Open the door for both of them.  Let the Holy Spirit do the pushing!

I'm going to set the alarm on my watch so I can pray tomorrow at 11 a.m. (I'm Central Time).  We'll all be there with you, and the Holy Spirit will be, too!  Forget the Giants and the Patriots, you've got the heavenly team on your side!

(And then later you can pull for your Super Bowl favorite!)

Thank you, Rick!  You are very encouraging!  I did tell my husband that the best thing we can do tomorrow is be pray, be patient, and mostly listen.

I feel very encouraged to know that you all will be praying!

Marian,

I'm so relieved to hear that you plan to listen and pray and be patient.

You are a wise lady.  Stick to it, girl. :)

Add me to the list of those who join you in prayer.

God bless,

Becky

Marian, didn't you take your laptop to lunch?  :)

I thought you'd slip off to the powder room and send us a report.

How did it go?  I prayed for you during Mass this morning.

Becky

Dear Becky,

No I don't have a laptop or access to wireless.  :)

Thank you for your prayers--thanks to all for their prayers.

I think lunch went ok.  I don't think I'll really know until my oldest dd talks to him again.  I really do feel for this man.  He didn't seem to make a lot of eye contact when we were talking to him. I tried very hard to make eye contact with him and to actively listen.  But he would start out looking at me (or my husband) while we were talking, then he'd just look down at the table.

We tried to keep things fairly light.  I couldn't help but notice his necklace which must have been some sort of pagan entity--it was a figure with a head and limbs--hard to explain.  I just thought of my miraculous medal that I had on, and how Our Lady crushes the serpent.

This medal he wore--no face or anything.  Just an unknown entity. While we have images of the saints, Our Lord, and Our Lady--who are so very real.

How blessed we are to have our family here on earth and in heaven!

In a way I felt sorry for him.  He's almost 50 and still seems to be searching.

I don't know if he will come to Mass or not.  When we said goodbye, I did invite him.  My younger dd (who is very perceptive) said that his eyes seemed to harden.  So only time will tell.

Thanks for all of your prayers.  One of the things that I did feel encouraged by was that I met a young man after Mass who gave me two medals of St. Joseph.  I was especially encouraged by this because I have been praying to St. Joseph for weeks regarding this situation with my daughter.  I'm taking it as a sign that St. Joseph was telling me not to worry--that things will work out, and that he is interceding.  So I wanted to share that.

I will keep everyone posted.  My daughter has band rehearsal tomorrow night (:(), so this man may tell her if he plans to come to Mass or not.

Continued prayers would be appreciated.  This man's initials are TMK.

Marian, sounds as if you were a real trooper. The fellow she is dating is almost fifty? Wow. I'd say you were one cool lady. And the Holy Spirit gave you compassion for him. That's wonderful.

Now comes the waiting. Waiting and praying. Praying and waiting. While you are taking their needs to the Lord, the Lord will also be doing a work in you during this difficult time.

Hang in there,
Becky

Dear Becky,

I'm not one cool lady.  This has been a very tough time for us since last October when she admitted to us she was dating him.

She had been dating him, but she said she broke it off.  For a while, I think she did.  I'm not so sure now.  I do think she still has feelings for him.  She's only 23.  I am only 2 years older than this man.

She no longer lives under our roof--she's out on her own and supporting herself.  We don't have very much influence over her anymore.  We do see her for Mass once a week as we go to the same church.

Please continue to pray for her.  God will have to work the miracle here to have her come out from under his negative influences.  I recognized today the powerful kind of personality he has.  Of course, we realize that this is more of a spiritual battle than anything else.

That does not mean we do not wish to see him come into the Church--everyone needs to.

You are right--I have to wait and pray.  It's in God's Hands.  He has been working in me, too.  I know because you all have been praying, and I have been reacting in ways in which I never thought I'd react (waiting on God for one thing).  :)

God bless to all!

I will pray for your daughter this evening. I pray she will attend mass and be exposed to the word and grace of God. May she come to see marraige as a covenental relationship that reflects Christ and the church.  Relationhips like these eventually fall apart by their own dead weight. Eventually she will realize his eartly future is behind him while her future is ahead. Praise God in all things.

Marian, I will continue to pray. My heart is with you.
Say a prayer for me also, if you will. I, too, am waiting on God.

Adoration seems to help me more than anything else.
I hope you have time and opportunity to attend Adoration regularly.

Thank you for your prayers, Ted.

Please also pray that my dd listen to the inspirations of the Holy Spirit and her guardian angel to realize the things you have said.

Unfortunately, she has compromised on a lot of things she used to believe in--things she used to hold fast to 5 years ago have been swept aside.  This did not happen overnight, but my husband and I did not realize it until 2006.

We pray that she continues to attend Mass weekly.  Honestly, I do not know how long she will be able to think she can live in both worlds.

Please also pray for strength for me so I can begin to fast for this.  I am very weak in that department, but I do feel that I must begin to do so for her.

Thank you, Becky.  I will pray for your needs as well.

I am not able to get out to adoration very much.  But I do make a Holy Hour at home every First Friday as part of Night Adoration in the home.  I have also begun a Holy Hour every Monday night when I know my dd is going to her band rehearsal.

I ask your prayers, too, that I have the strength to begin to fast for this.

God bless!

God is at work here. He has a plan, to reach all parties involved. It may sound trite and formulaic, but I think we all need to frequently remind ourselves that "all things work together for good" (Romans 8:28: probably my fave Bible verse). It may take a long time; it may take way longer than we feel comfortable with. It may turn out in a way that we could never have imagined or desired, but if we continue to seek Him, things do have a way of having a happy (or a joyful) ending. That's not to say that there is no suffering or tragedy in life. I trust that people know what I am saying, on a spiritual plane.

Just a word of encouragement: as much to myself as to anyone. We will keep this in our prayers.

Next time you meet with them, get there early.

Have a bottle of Holy Water with you, sprinkle all about your table and where they are going to sit, praying the Our Father and Hail Mary as you do so.  :D

Ok, I admit, I am honory.  :D

That's a very good idea.  Btw, I did enroll the neopagan in a monthly novena of Masses in honor of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal.  :)

I agree with Dave, God is doing a work.  A think the work though is teaching your daughter something that she will need in life, something she is learning that will important in her teaching others about life.  You are faithful and true to our Lord and he honors that.  He will not let your/her feet to stumble for he is the watcher over Israel.

I know that I cannot begin to understand God's purpose here.  It has been a BIG exercise in trust for me--it hasn't always been easy, but I've been trying.

Continued prayers would be appreciated in this realm as well.  My daughter is getting quite dissatisfied that all the band is doing is practicing with no prospects of playing anywhere.

So that's a positive!  :)

I know this is really a spiritual battle.  But I also know that God is the victor!:D
