Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

I want to share a bit of our journey over these last weeks in regards to my husbands health and my health (which is minor).  Here is a bit of the events as they have occured and I shared with those who I had asked for prayer.  Things seemed to happen so fast, I didn't get to ask here, but wanted to share the miracle with you, because I know you pray!

My husband had been in the hospital for over a week by the time I went to the ER to get a shot.  My shot in the emergency room ended up in a 9 day stay in the hospital for me. Well, at least we were under the same roof, not room, but same roof ;) Jesus was present there in the Eucharist so we were blessed.

I have to share a little, let me see if I can recall the sequence of events...

1. I heard the Lord say on Tuesday (that would be two weeks ago) 'all for my honor and glory.' I said ok Lord! By Tuesday night, it was clear he was becoming disoriented and could not function on his own and they placed him in the step down unit for cardiac care for a dopamean(sp) drip -which they didn't do.  Then they moved him to CICU for dialysis.  Then on Sunday, as they were moving him from CICU into MICU Fr. Deacon Seraphim brought a small icon of the Theotokos, which got placed on his chest and remained there for several days.

2. Fr. Deacon Stan got steadily worse, his kidneys shut down completely. The four pints of blood became four more pounds of fulid. He was placed on 24 hr diaylsis.

3. He had too much CO2 so they placed a tube in him - innovated him, I guess with a ventalator - to get it out.

4. By then, he was gone, there was no communication from him for four days.

5. They said he was heart was holding strong, pumping 50% of the blood it saw, which was great and keeping his body going, considering two years before he had had quadruple bypass surgery(God even prepared that).

They said he was still there.

6. Monday, a week ago, our Lord Jesus Christ, sent three priests to pray with him:

a. Fr. Wriggly annointed him in the morning - he slightly opened his eyes, but just as quickly went back out.

b. Fr. Isi gave him to the Lord that if his life was to be a vegtable then to take him home. If not, then heal him. This was at midnoon. He pressed on his chest accidently, and Stan's eyes opened wide, but he went back out.

c. Fr. Frank (our priest) came, it was late noon, early evening. He annointed him, used relics I know of St. George, but not certain who else, I think a combination. Prayed with him. Deacon opened his eyes and tried to follow and then went back out.

The kids came that evening (I am only going by what I have been told, as I was in the hospital myslef, on the next floor). The kids said he opened his eyes, and followed them around the room.

The next morning, the nurse said, he had his eyes opened and was responding to her commands.

Then his blood gases got better. The next day - actually his hands were strapped down - he managed to pull out the ventalator tube from his throat. His fighting spirit was back:D

That evening I think it was, they said his kidneys started working.

Two other couples came by to pray for him.

The next day the dialysis machine coagulated, since it was at night, they had to wait till morning to get it back online. HIS KIDNEYS WORKED THE REST OF THE NIGHT!

They put him back on dialysis. His blood gases improved so much they took him off the ventelator. By then they were removing three liters of fluid and hour from his body.

WELL! YOUR FAITHFULNESS TO PRAYER, AS BROUGHT FORTH A MIRACLE.

They removed 54 pounds of fluid from him. He weighed 244 when we took him in, he now weighs 190, about where he was when this all started. He is NOT on dialysis, his figures are good enough and kidney function too, that they don't think he will have need of diaylsis. His lung function is normal, his heart function is normal, and it is all somehow by God's grace becoming normal. He had been on a feeding tube and is now feeding himself, what little he eats, but he is!

The first food he received after the ventelator was removed - THE EUCHARIST!

He is not totally out of the woods yet, he is in MICU, now they have to figure out what has really been happening. He talks a little but tires very easily. A long road to go yet.

BROTHERS AND SISTERS IN CHRIST,

IN SO MANY WAYS IT WAS LIKE THE VISITATION OF ABRAHAM! Our Lord sent three priests to pray.

IN SO MANY WAYS IT WAS LIKE LAZARUS WAS CALLED FORTH FROM THE TOMB! As he was there four days.

DANIEL 13: (of Susanna)
35 Through her tears she looked up to heaven, for she trusted in the Lord wholeheartedly.
44 The Lord heard her prayer.

ALL OF YOU TRUSTED! In my tears I trusted, I could do nothing for my husband, I was in a hospital bed, I could not even hold his hand. People said they walked away from him in tears, not understanding, but trusting.

I had a lot of time to pray for all of you. I am still processing it all. I especially remembered those of us on here who are suffering for our spouse's health. I hope in some small way, my suffering and my testimony as it is right now, can help.

Because remember, my testimony, is that God's people were faithful to pray.

2 Chronicles 7:
14
and if my people, upon whom my name has been pronounced, humble themselves and pray, and seek my presence and turn from their evil ways, I will hear them from heaven and pardon their sins and revive their land.

15
Now my eyes shall be open and my ears attentive to the prayer of this place.

I am going to try to sleep a bit! God bless you all. And know that your faithfulness has brought about a miracle.

THANK YOU!
Pani Rose

WONDERFUL story, Rose. Thanks so much for sharing that, to the edification and encouragement of all.

We believe there may have been some sort of divine healing with my father, who has lung cancer, too. He was diagnosed two years ago now, and underwent radiation and chemo. He's 83 years old. But for the last five or six scans, the tumor has not grown, which is highly unusual. He has already surpassed, I think, the usual survival rate of those with lung cancer, to the extent that he had it. Usually this cancer spreads very rapidly and that is it.

Thank you all so much for your continued prayers and support.

As I woke up, this old Protestant hymn running through my mind. I found myself thinking my husband looks so much younger, his skin is suptle and very youthful looking. The results of his 24 hr days of diaylsis - as it has been literally washed, and the working of our Lord. His skin/age to me looks much like that of a picture of us cutting our wedding cake 39yrs ago this month (only his hair is white).

I thought isn't that what our Lord does? He washes us clean in his Precious Blood. We enter the tomb of Baptism and rise new with life in Christ, then he continues to feed us with his precious and life giving Blood so that each day we have new life in Him. All the old toxins and poisins are washed away, we are made new, fresh, suptle, to face the dawn of the new day with all the challanges it brings. And all these challanges serve to draw nearer to our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

Brothers and Sisters, are you washed in his Precious Blood?

Are you washed in the blood?

Have you been to Jesus for the cleansing power?
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?
Are you fully trusting in His grace this hour?
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?
Refrain

Are you washed in the blood,
In the soul cleansing blood of the Lamb?
Are your garments spotless? Are they white as snow?
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?

Are you walking daily by the Savior’s side?
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?
Do you rest each moment in the Crucified?
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?

Refrain

When the Bridegroom cometh will your robes be white?
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?
Will your soul be ready for the mansions bright,
And be washed in the blood of the Lamb?

Refrain

Lay aside the garments that are stained with sin,
And be washed in the blood of the Lamb;
There’s a fountain flowing for the soul unclean,
O be washed in the blood of the Lamb!

Refrain

Love to you all,
pani

Thank you all for your prayers, sorry mine have been so delayed in print, but they have been going up in actual time :D

Deacon is recovering slowly but surely, each day brings new strength, and determination.   I am thinking this Monday will be five maybe six weeks that he has been in the hospital.  He is in the step down unit to MICU, it is called MOU.  He has good care and better yet great prayer support.

After our service at Church during Holy Week for the blessing of 'healing or annointing' oil, I took a bottle to him.  He offered to pray with his nurses.  Now, nurses come in his room saying :waving:.  One came in the other day and said 'I need some of that oil and some of that prayer.'  So even in his suffering people come for prayer.  Fr. says people have come from all over the hospital now to him.  So who knows!  God sure has a sence of humor.  He is blessed that the priest/chaplain comes to see him almost everyday and visits a bit (my husband is also a hosptial chaplain).

I am hanging in there, I think these past two years have taken a toll on my body more than we realized as it is trying to fall apart more than normal.  But our God is an awesome God and is just saying to put on the brakes for a bit, rest now while the resting is good.  All in God's time!

That's great stuff, Rose. Could you ask him to pray for me, too? I have a terrible cold that won't go away. It seemed like I was just about better around Easter, and then I apparently got it right back again from one of my children. SIGH. I tend to do this at this time of year. Seems like the house is filled with evil spirits (i.e., germs) or something!

Thanks for any prayers!

Irenic,

If you are in B'ham sometime stop and visit St. George.  Let us know you are going to be in town.  We have a Vesperal-Liturgy that Archbishop Raya of blessed memory started ages ago, on Sat. evening at 5pm, then Divine Liturgy for Sunday is at 10:30.  Orthros starts at 9:15 before Divine Liturgy.

Dave he is been praying for you :D

This  is the prayer I use when things seem to be going totally heywire around us;)

“Dear Lord Jesus, please surround me (family/friends/or the particular person that you are praying for) with a perimeter of Your Love and Protection throughout the day today and everyday a hundred yards in all directions. In the name of Jesus:  any negativity, sadness, dispair, any evil spirits that have attached themselves to myself or those about me I command you, spirits of earth, air, fire, or water, the netherworld, or nature depart, now, and go straight to the cross of Jesus Christ for him to deal with.

Lord Jesus, render any demons that are here, or should try to come, deaf, dumb, and blind. Strip them of all weapons, illusions, armor, power, and authority. Disable them from communicating or interacting in any way. Bind, sever, and separate them, sending them directly to the foot of Your Cross without manifestation or harm to be dealt with by you Jesus. May Your Precious Blood cover me, the Holy Spirit fill me, Mary's mantle of love and protection surround me, St. Joseph guide me, the Holy Angels and Saints guard and protect me from all unfortunate events. Protect me from fire, theft, flood, storms, ailments, and accidents of every sort, distress, hardship, curse, and all untoward things. I ask all this in your Name Lord Jesus and I thank and praise you. I love you. Alleluia. Amen!”

We ever find ourselves in B'Ham on a Saturday or Sunday, I would LOVE (IN ALL CAPS, EVEN) to join with the good people of St. George's in Vespers the Divine Liturgy. I have longed to experience an Eastern liturgy for years and there are no Eastern Catholic parishes in our area.

Oddly enough, we'll actually be in B'Ham this Monday for the broadcast of the "The Journey Home" program.

God bless you and Fr. Deacon Stan!

Hi Rose,

That is some powerful praying. Wow! I'm humbled by the fervency of your piety. You're a great blessing.

Thanks so much for your prayers and those of your husband. I'm just about better now! If I can manage to not kiss and hug my kids so much (and with God's supernatural help) maybe I'll avoid catching a cold for the third straight time. :D

It's basketball and baseball season now. I'm ready! Gotta show my 6'1" 14 yo that I ain't over the hill yet and can still beat him (sometimes) in one-on-one basketball. :) ;) :woohoo:

Dave,

You are in front of the computer a lot.  OH, just saw the email on your books.  CONGRATS!

Anyway, go to the health food store and get some plasma salts.  It really sounds like you are a bit dehydrated, which will cause that symptom of having a head cold.  The electricity coming from the screens will cause dehydration, and most of us never give it a thought.  If I don't use a polaroid screen on my computer, I can't sit in front of it since I have an extreme sensitity to electricity (no microwave in my home either) much less read, it really hurts my eyes.  That might help, anyway just a suggestion.

Sounds wonderful Dave.  It is so important to keep those activities alive with the kids as long as possible.  My husband says the same has to beat them still, though ours are 23, 25, and 32 - he is 62 - so he settles for beating them at chess.  ;)

For any good that I have done, I give all the glory to God, for it is through his love, mercy, and by his grace that any good I have managed to do is acheived.

I definitely need to drink more liquids; no question. I've traditionally had a problem with that. I drink a lot less in the cooler months. Then in summer I gobble down water like everyone does. But I should probably drink relatively more then too (because we sweat off more). I should get some fruit punch or something instead of water. A little incentive . . .

It's funny that the computer doesn't strain my eyes (even with my astigmatism), though sometimes I get a slight burning in the eyes after many hours (the kind of feeling where you would put eyedrops in). I work without glasses and set the monitor right where it is comfortable for my eyes.

I just got new glasses today: bifocals ("progressive" lenses) for the first time, but I determined that there is no way I can wear them while on the computer. It was too strained; too much "work". If I get a second pair of reading glasses I could, but not with these progressive lenses. I just move my head half an inch and a third of the screen gets blurry. I can't even look at the sidebar on my blog without moving my head. Weird! If I had to do that all the time, my brain would start to get blurry! :shocking:

Reading glasses with the nearsighted prescription: no problem, because then the whole lens is the same and it takes away blurry spots. It's a lot different from reading a book, where you look down to your lap. That was easy today when I tried it out.

I love my new glasses (design-wise), and everyone who has seen them does too. I paid enough, so I would hope I like 'em!
