Please lift up my husband, Mark, in prayer.  Over the past ten years he's had a series of jobs that continually go downhill.  The job sounds good, he gets started and within weeks (or sometimes days) things start going wrong, from finding out his job will be "phased out" over the next year, to having his salary lowered, to having his location moved 40 miles away, to just plain unethical business behavior and asking him to participate.

Mark is a well educated man, honest, and hard working.  We just don't understand why he is having such a hard time finding a good, stable job.  I have chronic illness problems and am unable to work.  My medical expenses add to the burden he carries.

He has just been knocked down so many times, I fear one of these days he won't even try to get up.  We still have two children at home and the burden of paying bills weighs on us both.

We have both felt like our faith continues to grow, for which we are grateful, but we just don't understand what God's plan is for us regarding Mark's ability to support our family.  We both feel very discouraged and helpless.  Over the past several years I have often sent out e-mails to friends and family to ask for prayers regarding this issue.  This time he has asked me not to send anything yet.  I think he just can't believe this is happening again, and we both feel like sometimes the only news we send is bad news.

So, my friends, I am turning to you because I believe in the power of prayer, and I want others praying for us, but I understand and respect my husband's desire that those close to us not know we are struggling yet again.  :crying2:

Didi,

I am weeping with you and praying with you.
There is nothing I can say that you do not know.
We will pray about this tonight during my home Bible study.

It hurts to know that you are hurting. It's always hard to watch the
suffering of holy persons. I know your husband's pain is much harder
for you than your own pain.

May the Lord sustain you both and bring relief,
Becky

Didi, I have seen many of your hardships first hand and join you in prayer to the Almighty. Know that the Lord hears the cry of the poor (Psalm 69:33).

Didi,

You and your husband Mark have my prayers. All of what you've described above seems more than "concidental" over time. While I'm not in the least bit big on conspiracy theories, it wouldn't surprise me in these days when the bean counters in the upper echelons start looking over their files and see who's costing their stockholders (and their bosses and by extension-- themselves) -- unexpected things start to happen. Be very careful, but don't put it out mind and  it might be worth looking into with an attorney who specializes in labor relations, disability law, etc..

Pray like it all depends on God; push for justice like it all depends on you!

God be with  you both; my prayers are!

Thank you all.

Sometimes we just feel like we're on one of those hampster wheels and we  keep reliving the same scenarios over and over and we can't get out of it.  I know Our Lord has something in mind for us, I just am weary from the struggle.

Then we begin wondering if God is trying to teach us something that we haven't gotten yet.  Sort of like the Groundhog Day movie??!!  Oh, Lord, I believe -- help my unbelief!

Didi, you and your husband are on my prayer list.  I know how frustrating and discouraging it is for him, and you feel his pain as if it were your own.  My husband and I were discussing this sort of thing a few days ago.  In times past, companies hired employees practically for life.  They took care of their employees and valued them.  Workers stayed pretty much in the same place, my husband worked at his job for over thirty years.  Now it seems a company will let people go just to trim a little fat before the quarterly profit report is due.  They don't see their employees as people, with families and community.  Okay, let me get down off my soapbox.

God bless your husband, and allow him the means to provide for his family.

Didi I pray for you and your husband and pray that he will soon have a job which will provide for your income needs. Just helpfully speaking, I was wondering if there might be any governmental (civil service) jobs he might be able to get.  Sometimes working for the government can be a more stable job situation that working for the private sector, sad to say.  May God bless you and provide for you!

God is faithful 150% or more :D, he will not abandon ya'll.  Our trials, as children of God, the Word says of the faithful the trials are many.  The many we have had similar in not being able to find work, have turned out far more miraculous than we could have ever imagined.  Don't look to the left or the right, but look straight ahead to the God of Power.

“Dear Lord Jesus, please surround Didi, her husband Mark, and all involved with a perimeter of Your Love and Protection throughout the day today and everyday a hundred yards in all directions. In the name of Jesus:  any negativity, sadness, dispair, any evil spirits that have attached themselves to myself or those about me I command you, spirits of earth, air, fire, or water, the netherworld, or nature depart, now, and go straight to the cross of Jesus Christ for him to deal with.

Lord Jesus, render any demons that are here, or should try to come, deaf, dumb, and blind. Strip them of all weapons, illusions, armor, power, and authority. Disable them from communicating or interacting in any way. Bind, sever, and separate them, sending them directly to the foot of Your Cross without manifestation or harm to be dealt with by you Jesus. May Your Precious Blood cover me, the Holy Spirit fill me, Mary's mantle of love and protection surround me, St. Joseph guide me, the Holy Angels and Saints guard and protect me from all unfortunate events. Protect me from fire, theft, flood, storms, ailments, and accidents of every sort, distress, hardship, curse, and all untoward things. I ask all this in your Name Lord Jesus and I thank and praise you. I love you. Alleluia. Amen!”

Thank you all.  Pani Rose -- that's one of my favorite prayers!  I used to have it on our door to pray before we left the house.  Maybe I need to do that again!

My husband continues to look for other work while enduring the situation he's in (which is not good).  I told him yesterday to just think of all the time he's working off in purgatory while at this job!  He is so faithful and hardworking.  Please, Lord, help him find something soon!

st Paul I especially recommend to you all the members of this forum and their families that are suffering in any way, especially their finances or employment, that you would gracioulsy intercede with the Lord our God that he would meet all of their needs according to God's riches in Glory. Amen

O St. Paul, great Apostle of the Gentiles, intercede for us to God. You are God's special vessel of election. Through your intercession we hope to receive from Him this special grace gainful employment that will be pleasing to him and his family.

O God, you have instructed many nations through the preaching of the Blessed Apostle Paul. Let the power of his intercession with You help us who venerate his memory this day. Amen.

A quick update.

The recent position my husband had (less than 2 months) was just eliminated today.  The cycle continues.

Please pray for him and for our family.

Thank you!

:) Didi, I had a horrible streak of one job loss after another and I know darn well that it seems like you're always feeling like you've continually fallen while trying to pull yourself out of a deep well and you're left gasping while looking up at the clear sky others get to see horizontally.

It's not permanent, however, especially if one has a desire and the willingness to trust in the hand that reaches down to help pull us out. We know WHO has the longest arm, but we also have to trust enough in Him to send us the right person at the right time to help not only pull us up, but to help us be able to dust ourselves off and make sure we're not thrown back down. God will do that for your husband. I know from experience. He did it for me, even in spite of my stubborness and pride that made it difficult.

Yes, even when I was lying flat on my back (or fanny) at the bottom of my well, I still had too much pride in thinking of what I wouldn't do when I got pulled up. That's sin, particularly the sin of pride speaking. But, with God's help even that can, and must, be overcome. It will, trust me.

Even though I'm not where I wish to be, it's a lot better than being down on my luck back in that hole. And at least I can see the sky from a horizontal view that I didn't have the luxury--and it is a luxury in those (i.e., the well, hole, whatever) circumstances--to see what I really could do for my family when I was still too picky. I'm not saying that's your husband's predicament, but it's a danger we all face when life throws us an employment knockdown pitch, high and inside, or low and inside. If you don't jump back or duck, down you go, and this marketplace is a mean nasty pitcher with no regards for the rules.

God, however, has better rules and in the end, we'll have the final laugh, the final day of victory, and He will help all of us overcome.

I'll be praying hard for you.

Go with God and be at peace: He's on our team and He will pull your husband out of this hole. Trust a guy who's been in a deep one.
I'm Out! Thanks to God!

Steven :)

Thanks to all for your continued prayers and support.  And thanks, Steven, for sharing your similar journey.

I have seen my husband's faith grow a lot over the past few years.  He's really not a prideful man and willing to do most anything to support our family.  He has just found himself in job situations that promise or offer certain opportunities, only to find himself in a completely different situation including two times now where the department he was responsible for had every intention of closing when they hired him.  As an honest and responsible man, he just doesn't understand people who don't operate morally and ethically.  It's very frustrating.

Please pray that he can find a job that not only will support our family, but be a place of integrity, morals and values.

On the bright side, I have received some additional work I can do on the computer from home that will help out a little.  I have chronic health issues, so a regular full-time job is out of the question for me.  This makes it hard for me to feel like I'm not contributing much during a time when we really need it, but I'll help a little with what I can do from home.

God bless you all!

Hi All --

Thanks again so much for all your prayers.  We're hitting a crucial point where a job is needed in the next couple of weeks or we risk losing our house, and not sure where that will leave us.  With two children at home, it's even more critical.

We're trying very hard to trust in God and that He will take care of us, but it's hard.  For the first time in a very long time I'm having doubts about my faith.

Thanks again for all your continued prayers.  My husband has a lot of applications out there but nothing too hopeful yet -- no interviews scheduled or anything.  We are applying for food stamps and possible utility help.  This is a very humbling experience, and I know there are many others in a similar situation.  Our biggest worry is losing our home, which wouldn't be a big deal for my husband and I, but difficult for our children.  My prayers go out for all who are struggling with unemployment, homelessness and chronic illnesses.  Lord God, please help us!

Didi,

I have been praying for you and Mark and will continue to do so.

It is hard to be humbled. God has taken me through humiliations also. His perspective is so different from ours.

May God give you special graces to cope with all the sufferings of your situation.

In His love,
Becky

Didi, I have just prayed for you and your husband, and also for my daughter and son-in-law.  My SIL is also without a job, although he is doing odd jobs to get by until he is hired again.  I know how they are struggling and I sympathize with the situation you're in.  IMO, it's harder to cope with financial troubles than with an illness.  If you're sick or injured, you don't receive harassing phone calls, or cut-off notices in the mail.  Being near to losing your home can cause enough stress to make you sick, literally.  I will continue to pray for you dear one.  Don't lose your faith when you need it most.  God bless
