Tomorrow my principal and I are meeting with the mom of one of my 2nd grade students. I knew from the very beginning that he needed help badly. We have tried so hard to get mom to understand that he is going under.
Tomorrow we have to tell his mom that he can't return to our school next year, because he hasn't gotten any help and has completely stopped working. I am really sad about this because my own son has ADD and I KNOW this little boy could succeed if he had the same kind of help my son has had (testing, coaching and medication.) My son used to cry every day after school in kindergarten because he wanted to do well and could not. This other little boy never even cries. He actually says he wished he was never born.
Please pray for him and his mom. His parents are divorced and she has to deal with this basically without help. We have First Communion this Saturday and he is as eager to receive it as the others.
I only hope that this meeting will finally get mom to realize that he has a severe learning/emotional problem and that she will address it so he can have some kind of chance at his new school next fall. He is really a good kid who has not been able to get the help he needs. Please pray for this child and all children who are struggling with overwhelming problems at school and at home. Our meeting is at 8:00 Central time.
Lisa

Prayer:
Lord, through the intercession of St. John Baptist de la Salle, we ask You to intervene on Lisa's student's behalf. We ask you to give the Mom courage to ask for the help that he needs. We ask that your mercy would overflow in this situation. Give Lisa the right things to say in the meeting with the principal and the Mom.
Lord, in Your word you say not to suffer the little children to come unto Me. Please make a way for him to recieve First Communion. We ask for a miraculous breakthrough and believe that nothng is impossible with You.
Amen.
Bill

He is going to be allowed to receive First Communion, at least as far as the pastor, principal and I are concerned. I hope his mom will understand that we are discussing his future, next year, at our meeting. For this year he is welcome to stay with the class in every way.
It would probably be wise for mom not to tell him about our meeting until after Saturday, and even then he should be told that we are going to try to find a new place where he can go to school and get more help to do his work. But I know that is not likely to be the way it plays out if mom is feeling hurt and angry.
We will just have to do our best and pray for the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
Lisa

Christ our Lord, the Giver of light and wisdom, who opened the eyes of the blind man and transformed the fishermen into wise heralds and teachers of the gospel through the coming of the Holy Spirit, shine also in the mind of this young child and his mother, along with his teacher/s, the light of the grace of the Holy Spirit. Grant them discernment, understanding and wisdom in how this child can learn. Enable him to complete assignments with the grace to sit and listen, and to abound in every good work, for to You we give honor and glory for this miracle of life we will see.
Lord you have brought him to this solitary point of receiving you as Food for the soul, but Jesus you are also healing for our broken bodies. Sweet Jesus, be the healing balm for this child. As you raised Jairis(sp) daughter from her death bed, in many ways, this child is dying, raise him also from his bed Jesus, as his Lord and Saviour that he has new life in you. That he may come to understand that is valued and loved by you, and in you he has his coming in and going out. The peace of Christ be upon him! Amen.Last edited on Fri Apr 11th, 2008 02:47 pm by Pani Rose
