He is in my prayers.  This is an issue near and dear to me.

:) Hate to use a cliche, but it fits well between me and the bottle as well: Been there, done that.

With God's help, and he's GOT to want it, he'll be sober. He has my prayers.

If he has a wife and kids, one question out to bring for that wall all alcoholics need to face when they decide enough is truly enough and they want to change.

Do I really want somebody else raising my flesh and blood and lying with my wife and making a new family with her?

It's questions like that ...

And by all means, fill this man in about Fr. Corapi, a man whose life story never fails to moisten my eyes when I think of what he lost and how he felt when he lost it all.

Drop me a private line. I'll be busy the next few days with my wife needing my assistance, but I'll be on the lookout and keeping both of you in my prayers.

In this vein, I ask for your prayers for my sister-in-law Lana, who has been battling alcohol addiction since her teens.  She will turn 49 next week.  She lives with her mother who supports her, and is desparately in need of God's providence.  Unfortunately, at this point, she does not feel that she is capable of God's love.  She would rather put her faith in vodka.

I also ask for your prayers for her daughter Angelique, my wife's godchild, who's primary role models in life are her alcoholic mother, her abusive father, and her philandering step-father.

Please remember them both in your prayers.  They are sorely in need of them.

Rick,

Lana and your entire family has my prayers. It must be one hell of an awful situation for you to have to "go public" like the way you did in listing all their problems. Thankfully my problems never got that far out of hand, but I've seen where it has and it's always dark, ugly and fraught full of peril.

God's heard you and He'll be with all of you, especially Lana and her family.

Steven

st Paul I especially recommend to you all the members of this forum and their families that are suffering in any way,  that you would gracioulsy intercede with the Lord our God that he would meet all of their needs according to God's riches in Glory. Amen

O St. Paul, great Apostle of the Gentiles, intercede for us to God. You are God's special vessel of election. Through your intercession we hope to receive from Him this special grace that these children of yours may be freed from any type of addiction.

O God, you have instructed many nations through the preaching of the Blessed Apostle Paul. Let the power of his intercession with You help us who venerate his memory this day. Amen.
