He has been sick with cramps and diarrhea since Easter, has lost almost 30 pounds, and has missed 14 days of work (unpaid), not to mention just been plain miserable.

We need to find out what is wrong with him so treatment can begin.

Also, the prep for the procedure is not very much fun.  Especially when you are already sore, iykwim.

Please keep dh in your prayers, as well as the doc doing it.

Thanks,
Ali

Praying for him, Ali! My hubby had one a few years ago. The worst part (for me, heh) was the gas he kept passing afterwards. You know you love your hubby when you can endure that sort of thing. :shocking:

He's in my prayers, and I hope both of you are able to get by alright. That's a lot of lost time. But more importantly, I hope they DON'T find anything.

Been there, had that. Prayers on the way. Prep bad- procedure easy.

It could be worse: A friend fell making a mad dash to the Loo during prep and had to go to the emergency room for stitches to her head. They were very kind to her the next AM at the look-see place.

Prayers and Peace,

Everything went well.  The doc said it is colitis, but an infection :shrugging:  I had to search deep to find anything out about infectious colitis.  And I still don't know that much about it.

Except that the dr must be right, because dh has responded well to the abx.  He's back to work today and is eating again.

He has a follow up in a couple weeks, and hopefully by then it'll be all cleared up and he will be back to {for him} normal.

Oh, yeah, he also has *four* stomach ulcers :eyeroll:

Thanks for asking about him and the prayers, they really do make us feel better.

Ali

Ali, thanks for the update. I was concerned you had gotten bad news.

Maybe the antibiotics will help his stomach ulcers as well. At least more recent medical theory seems to head in that direction.

God bless,
Becky

I think Helicobacter can sometimes also cause colitis. So everything should be all right soon! :woohoo:

Wish my ulcers were from bugs, they are from having a "cheap stomach," as Charlie Brown used to say.

Hi Ali,

I'm very happy to hear that things went well and that it isn't a serious condition. One good thing (if any), is that he was able to drop 30 pounds, as long as he isn't too thin.

I guess I should ask for prayers for one of my nieces, Rachel, who is about 19. She has a more serious case of colitis, with more or less constant diarrhea and not much to be done about it (has to use suppositories a lot, etc.). Needless to say, it is very distressing to her at that young age (as it would be for anyone, but you know what I mean).

We all certainly have our crosses to bear, but God can use all of them somehow. Oftentimes, we don't see the purpose, but we can ask for the grace to have faith that there is indeed a purpose in God's plan, and that what we endure is not meaningless. We can also offer up any sufferings we go through for the sake of souls. That in itself gives our travails tremendous meaning and purpose.

The Great Physician and Healer of our Souls lay your hands upon your servants and heal their colitis.
Our Father, Who art in heaven,
Hallowed be Thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come.
Thy Will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. Amen.
