Last week I resigned my position as pastor of a Pentecostal church. My prayer request are as follows:
- my marriage (my wife has a great fear of the Catholic Church)
- direction on going to a Catholic Church

You will be in our prayers, Shawn. Please let us know if we can help in any other way.
Have you been in contact with the CHNI office? There are people there who are quite familiar with helping people in your situation, and they might well be able to offer specific guidance and a contact in the helper's network.
Meanwhile, we're glad to have you join us on the forum.

I thank God for your witness to courage and pray for God's blessing on your professional and family life. I pray that as you experience the initial sufferings of this call to faithfulness, you will experience soon the opening of the expanse into God's infinite grace and mercy.
Peace be with you, brother.

Shawn, you have my prayer support.
Your wife needs some women who can share this burden with her.
She also needs a chance to get to know some Catholic women. I would be happy to exchange emails with her as a pretty harmless former Southern Baptist (PK who married an MK; taught a SB ladies SS class for many years) if you think she'd be interested. Just PM me if you want to pursue it. Meeting ladies in person would be better, but sometimes it's easier to be completely honest with somebody you don't have to face.
A wife can bear almost anything and can muster an amazing degree of courage if she feels her husband needs her. Don't be afraid to let her know that you are sometimes frightened also.
God bless,
Becky

Hi Shawn,
I am always awestruck by the great courage of pastors who give up their work to become Catholic. May God abundantly bless you at this difficult transitional time. I'm sure the prayers of many here will be with you, and God will provide and honor your sacrificial commitment to Him.

Dave has said it, Shawn. I have known a number of pastors who took the same step into space, trusting God to guide their lives and those of their family. That is courage.
You have my continued prayers.

| Shawn, welcome to the forum. It is an awesome sacrifice you have made, one that will certainly have repercussions for awhile. I promise to pray for your marriage; God loves and honors marriage and this will be a time for you and your wife to cling to each other for support. I pray you will find a catholic church which will fit your needs and help you through the transition from pentecostal culture to catholic culture. It can be confusing but boy is it worth the change! I pray for employment for you. I often pray for St. Joseph's help in a situation as this, because he is the patron saint of workers, he is our role model for a godly husband and provider. I ask him to pray for you. God bless

Lord God and Savior, Jesus Christ, You walked the streets of Palestine spreading the word of forgiveness and peace. You cured many and taught them about God's kingdom. You offered Yourself in humble sacrifice and rose in glory on the third day. You ascended into heaven and then sent the Holy Spirit, the most pure Virgin Mary and the holy apostles to strengthen them for service in the Church. With the help of your grace, they responded to uncertainty with faith, to hardship with courage, and to the needs of others with selfless service.
Now we ask that You continue to impart the gifts of wisdom and counsel to those who are called to serve the Church, especially sdreidy and all of those taking leave of the pastorates to come into your Eucharistic-Sacramental Church and their families. Provide for them Jesus the perfect place to use their talents and their calling to nourish your people, with income that is subsantial to meet their needs for they often sacrafice much in this world to come into your Catholic Church. Let their be your peace in their lives in all matters.
Enkindle in all of us the fire of your zeal. Give us hearts ready to hear, and to joyfully respond to the needs of others. Grant us fortitude, patience and obedience. Help us to be attentive and open to the possibility of increasing our service to the Church. Grant us to be one with you Our God that, through our daily work, we may build your kingdom of peace, freedom and love. For you are our God, and we worship and glorify You always, now and forever. Amen
