I have a very good and close Protestant friend who's just had a corrective type of operation related to a previous bout with prostrate cancer. He's a medical doctor and also a classmate and old close friend of Thomas Howard. I'll leave off the name because they both might get upset at me for half-name dropping. I brought up the connection because he introduced me to Dr. Howard's writings, helped me to see through much of my anger over the first pedophile crisis (Fr. James Porter of Fall River back in 1991 (?)) had also greatly colored my judgment during the second one just a few years ago and has supplied me with a Christmas gift subscription to First Things for several years running.

He's been like a second father to me in many ways and even though we have some (most always) good natured, albeit sometimes "spirited" disagreements over the Eucharist, Church authority, etc. he's long been a big supporter of Evangelicals and Catholics Together.

I suspect he'll be fine but one never knows and we must always pray for the best anyway. And is this doc BIG on prayer!

Thanks, S.

Thank you Marsha, and I'll pass it along. Left a call at his house today and for all I know he might've been getting picked up from the hosp.

I'm not sure it was a "biggie," but when you're in your seventies as he is, everything's a biggie. I'm still a kid in my fifties...whadda I know?

Have a great night and again, thanks!

Steven :waving:

May his healing be complete in Jesus.  May your healing continue in all things Catholic.

Our Father, Who art in heaven,
Hallowed be Thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come.
Thy Will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. Amen.

On behalf of my good friend, many thanks. His close friend and one of our heroes, Tom Howard would be most gratified to know the good people in this Forum are praying for him.
