Hi all,

I am requesting your prayers for us that I may continue to work.  I was laid off on Dec 13 and called back Jan 3.  But now there are rumors that we will be laid off again.

Please pray that won't happen as our savings are terribly depleted.

Sincerely,

Juan

Thank you Esther,

Your prayers must already be working.  I've received good news which makes me confident that I will continue to work.  Its not official yet, but neither was the news that we would be laid off again.

Sincerely,

Your brother in Christ,

Juan

Very good news, Juan.  We will keep you in our prayers, and I ask that you keep me in yours.  I was laid off at the beginning of September and have not yet found a job.  I'm nearing the point where I'm going to have to take a job just to get a paycheck, which is not something I need to do at this time in my life.

Juan and Rick, I’m praying for both of you. I’ve seen some financial stress myself in recent years due to medical expenses for my wife, so I know what you are facing.

Thank you both for your prayers.

Rick,

I didn't know.  I'll certainly be praying for you.

David,

You are still in my prayers since you first told me about your wife a long time ago.

Sincerely,

Juan

Dear Juan, what is your line of work?  Whatever you do, I pray that your need for employment and the needs of your family will be met.  Please keep us posted on your situation, as you are in our prayers.

Elizabeth

Hi Susie,

Thank you.

I work for the Railroad.  I'm in maintenance.  Thank God and all of you for your prayers.  I've been working regularly, but I'm still on the "extra" roster, so I'm not quite out of the woods yet.  I pray my bid will be accepted next cycle, then I should be set for the year.

Oh, I was working in white, snowy Sierra Blanca (i.e. White Mountain) this half.  For once, the name actually fit.  Since I was born in West Texas, I didn't believe the weather reports until the snow arrived.  I carried winter clothing just in case, and they came in handy.

Sincerely,

Juan

I hope the snow was beautiful, Juan.  My family and I were in west Texas, Midland / Odessa to be exact, last spring.  No mountains in sight, and the nearest lake was "only three hours away!" (to quote someone we met).  A snowy mountain is a sight filled with awe and wonder.

Thanks for writing back.  I hope your situation will be confirmed soon.

Elizabeth

Yes, Elizabeth,

The snow was beautiful.  I was traveling to work between Van Horn and Sierra Blanca.

One morning, I think it was Saturday, we woke up to misty rain in Van Horn (6 am central).  As we drove over the mountain pass to Sierra Blanca, the rain turned to sleet then to snow.  By the time we arrived in Sierra Blanca, which is approximately 33 miles away, the snow was covering everything.  And looking up the flakes were floating down so big and beautiful.

The men became like children.  Everytime there was a break in the work they were making snowballs and throwing them at each other and they made a four foot snowman and dressed him up like a construction worker.  Since there are rules against horseplay, I just watched and laughed.

But by 11am the sun came out and by noon, the snow was almost all gone.  By three p.m., you wouldn't have known it had snowed.  The snow man was still there and there remained snow in every crevice that shielded the sun.

The next to last day, it snowed in the evening, on our way back to the hotel in Van Horn.  We got stuck behind thousands of eighteen wheelers that couldn't climb the mountain pass for two hours until midnight.  Then the Sheriff came around and told all those in cars that we could negotiate around on the shoulder get past the eighteen wheelers.  I couldn't help noticing the beauty of the snow covered desert mountain.

Of course we woke up to snow and we couldn't get back to work.  So we were released to go home around noon when the free way was cleared for travel.

I couldn't help wishing my kids had been there.  They love to see snow, but we never see it in Houston.   I'm have to get a phone with a camera.

Sincerely,

Juan

Hello Juan,

It snowed last night here.  We woke up to having to shovel our front deck.  Actually, my husband shoveled and I watched.  There isn't the same excitement about snow where we live, unless you are a skier.  There are several popular ski resorts around here.  Most of the folks around here dread the snow.  But that's because it is so common.  Winters are long and spring just a brief cough, so to speak.

Even now as I look out my windows, I can see the beauty of the snow covered hills in my backyard.  Every where I look, I can see snow.  It truly is beautiful.  I am one of those folks who likes winter.  We put logs in the wood stove and often enjoy watching the children in the neighborhood sledding down the long, hilly road next to our house.

We need to look at God's creation with new and appreciative eyes as children do.

God Bless You,

Darlene

Back to the  subject of the thread.  Thanks for all your prayers.  I hope I'm not jumping the gun, but it looks as though I'll be back to a stable job tomorrow.

Sincerely,

Juan
