October 31st, 2004 was the day I went to my first Mass after being away from the Church for about 24 years. I had been on my way home for a couple of months. I had reached the point, as so many do, of realizing that it was time to check out a Mass.
I had moved back home, so the Church I went to for the Mass was in my home parish where I had attent Catholic elementary school! I had the advantage of being in a church that felt very comfortable and familiar.
It was the 31st Sunday in Ordinary Time Year C (same as this coming Sunday!). Fr. George celebrated the Mass. The Gospel was Luke 19:1-10, the story of Zacceus. It was a great experience that answered many questions, especially how it would "feel" coming back. Fr. George celebrated Mass simply and reverently. It was very welcoming. The Gospel was just what I need to hear.
9 And Jesus said to him, "Today salvation has come to this house because this man too is a descendant of Abraham. 10 For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save what was lost."

The 31st Sunday of Ordinary Time is my anniversary of being Confirmed and receiving First Eucharist! I've now been Catholic for two years.
Welcome Home, Brian.
