In January of this year my good Catholic friend and I had just finished an Interfaith Men's Group Meeting. He had earlier suggested that I get a RSV-CE of the Bible to read and study. I got a small compact one that I could carry with me. He wanted a larger one and ordered one online. It turned out  to be very nice, but he said it would have  been so much better if he could have seen it before buying. He said what we actually need is a good Cathilic bookstore right here in our city. I  had talked with him before about our oldest son wanting his mother and I to start a small business since we retired from teachinga. He's a lawyer and works for the government. When my friend said what he did I looked at him and said "that's it ,that's the business." My friend was so excited he hugged me. At that momnet we both felt inspired. I went home, told my son and wife. My son thought it was a great idea. My wife thought I was nuts. However, I started that night learnig everything i could about bookstores especially Catholic bookstores. You have to remember I was not Cartholic yet and hadn't even started RCIA or individual instruction.
Anyway my friend, his wife, my wife (very reluctantly)and I began meeting weekly to plan for this bookstore. There were ups and adowns, but we persevered using what skills we had and  learning new ones. Then through the workings and guidance of the Holy Spirit our bookstore was opened on Sept. 8, Our Blessed Mother's birthday and it has been a joyous experience ever since. As we were working on the store I was taking individual instruction and just came into the Church short time ago. So for a month and a half the store  was run by two Mormons - now by one Mormon and one Catholic. It certainly is a unique situation, but one that works together well. I am blessed with an opportunity to share my conversion story and my wife loves meeting and serving the customers. We make a good team. By the way each of my Mormon children had a hand in helping the store come to pass by using their time, skills, talents and hard work. These are just a few of the details. Nevertheless, what a glorious adeventure God has blessed us with. We hope and pray He can use us in this ministry He has calld us to for many years to come,

Welcome home Bob. Yours is truely a miraculous journey. I say this as I view Mormonism as one of the major heresies of the 19th century, especially in view of St Paul's teaching that if anyone, including angels (maroni!!) "preaches a gospel contrary to what you received, let him be accursed." Gal 1,9). God bless you

Bob, the catholic bookstore here is one of my most favorite places.  I go there sometimes even when I don't need anything, just to look around and let the peace sink in.  I try to support them as much as I can, and buy something just about every time I go in, even if it's a small item.  They even have a large container, like an urn with a spigot, with Holy water in it, and people bring their containers in and fill them.  A local priest comes in and blesses it when they need him to.  I think you have chosen an important field to go into, people depend on books and tapes and sacramental items to help them in their journeys of faith.  I pray you will be successful, and if you have a catalog maybe you could share it with us sometime.  God bless

Wonderful, Bob. Sounds like you are right where God wants you to be. Just walk through the doors of opportunity to share your faith when they arise.
