For those of you that are just beginning this journey and feel overwhelmed- I am looking back at my first year in the Catholic Church- over the past year I have gone from feeling like I stick out like a sore thumb to feeling right at home in my parish. I over heard my one of my kids telling someone- well since we are a Catholic family we do thus" I think it was about Lent  but am not positive.

Hello Kim...

Congratulations on your first year.  It's good to see that your journey has gone so well.  I wish you many, many years in the Church.

I've yet to come into the Church.  Part of my journey has been to wait, wait, wait!  on my and my husband's annulments.  This week both came through!! I am overjoyed.  I won't make it in for Easter Vigil...I'm waiting on a final approval on my husband's which will take a few weeks...but soon I'll be confirmed and able to join in Holy Communion.  That's where my journey began, with a longing in my soul for the Eucharist!  I'm so thankful to be so blessed.

I hope this is an encouragement to those who are waiting for Declaration of Annulity.   I had faith in what I could not see...and by the grace of God, it's coming about.

In His love,

Christine Ann

I am very grateful that since this is a first marriage for both my husband and I, and it was considered a valid marriage that we ddin't have any of those complications to worry about. I also had been validly baptised as an infant so the actual mechanics of coming into the church was simple. Since I faced a lot of flak from both sides of the extended family and from our former congreataion it was a relief that the nuts and bolts part of joining went without a hitch. Emotionally things had simmered down some on all sides until our teenagers made the choice to also join me- which stirred the hornets up a little.:?

Hi Christine,

I noticed that your gender setting on your profile is "male." You might wanna correct that!

We did have one couple who's final approval came in on Holy Thursday (via fax) and they did participate fully at the Vigil.  She (a Catholic) went to confession, then they were married, and at the Vigil he was baptized and confirmed, and they went to communion together.  So don't get your hopes up too high, but don't give up, either.

Pentecost is a great day to be confirmed, too!
