My daughter and I joined the RCC at the Easter Vigil this year.  We were both privileged to be interviewed by the newspaper of the Trenton, NJ diocese.  :D

It was wonderful to be able to give a testimony about the Messiah, Jesus of Nazareth, and what he has done for us!

Here is the link to the text of the article:

http://www.dioceseoftrenton.org/department/news_detail_print.asp?newsid=1834

I have attached a MS Document Image of a photo from the article below.

Many thanks to those of you here at the Coming Home Network forums, especially the moderators, who made me feel at home and were so patient with my questions during the journey of the past year.

Shalom!

Henry

Henry, please allow me to say how truly blessed I have been by your participation in our forum.  Many of our members have blessed us with their presence, but yours has been unique because of your grasp of our Jewish faith heritage.  It has been especially beneficial to me because my daughter is dating a young Jewish man (who is culturally, not religiously, Jewish), and I have been able to pass along to her the things I have learned from you.  G-d blesses us in so many ways, and I have been blessed by your presence here.

The forum has benefited from your presence, and so have I, and the Body of Christ is stronger for your decision to join our Church.  Praise G-d!

Dittos to what Rick just said.  As you know, we went through a phase of practicing Messianic Judaism.  Still do some of it...   In fact, we're having friends over for Passover this Saturday.  But it never seemed "all there" to me - led to much frustration in my mind and heart.

I love being Catholic, but it's even fuller if I can also have the background understanding of the root of our faith, the root of Judaism.  It's as if the Scriptures are brought into ever clearer focus and the faithfulness of God through, not just the last 2000 years, but the last 6000 is seen and understood in one continuous stream, linked together.

So.....   How's the book coming, Henry???

Shalom

P.S.  Jerusalem came up at Bible study last night.  'Salem' means peace.  Is "Jeru" from the word "jireh" meaning "provide"?  (Or, in the NAB which I don't care for, 'see'.)  (How are 'provide' and 'see' used to translate the same word, 'jireh'??)

P.P.S.  My MJ friends, Rob and Cathy, are praying for me to come to my senses and leave the CC.  They, like you, would be incredible assets were they to come to THEIR senses and become Catholic!  Please pray that they do.  Rob is like Henry, a fount of knowledge about Judaism.

I'm so glad that I've been able to help with what I contribute here at the forum.  Thanks for your kind words, Rick.  I will be praying for your daughter and her boyfriend. :)

Thanks for your kind words also, Jill.  I will pray for your friends.

There are different ways in which scholars have derived the root words of Jerusalem.  The one I find most compelling:

Yerushalaim comes from:  ir = city  and shalom = peace.  So Yerushalaim means "city of peace"

Looking forward to celebrating Passover in our home this year, too!

L'Shana Haba B'Yerushalaim!

Next Year, in Jerusalem!

Blessings!
