| It should be noted that this brave Donut Man has probably trashed his career by appearing on EWTN. Most of the churches he goes to with his program are evangelical Protestant that are decidedly anti-Catholic. I hope Catholic churches will get involved in hiring him for programs to take up the slack.

He is not the first. Several members of our forum are former Protestant pastors who are now driving trucks or otherwise trying to find gainful employment because of their conversions. I sympathize with them and admire them greatly. I don't know that I could have left my job and everything else to become Catholic. Thank God my family gave me that gift in my childhood.
Marcus Grodi, Scott Hahn, Alex Jones, and many other leading Catholic apologists today are former Protestant pastors who gave up everything to become Catholic.

When did Bob convert?
I saw him years ago at a local school here but did not know he was Catholic?
Might he have been at that time or was his conversion recent?
The web site did not specify.

Hi Jackie, Rob Evans (the Donut Man) entered the Church at the 2006 Easter vigil. I and my family knew Rob years ago when he was an 18-year-old new enthusiastic Christian in our charismatic church in New Jersey, and taught me how to play guitar. His story mirrors the story of our family. I was so excited to hear about his coming into the Church! I went to The Journey Home TV show to see him in the Spring this year. Now he's a new enthusiastic Catholic!
Blessings,
Lee

Wish that all my protestant friends and turned-away Catholics would see the Truth as this man did!
I loved the show the Donut Man performed back then and am even more delighted that he is Home.
Thanks for the info..........J

When more Catholics in America begin to think of themselves as Catholic Americans instead of regular American folks who happen to be Catholic, just as they happen to belong to the Democrats, GOP or some local club -- that's when you'll see the Donut Man having a larger influence. We're so doggone busy trying to avoid looking like bible thumpers that we wind up looking more Laodecian and less Catholic, much less enthusiastically Christian. We have to start standing for ourselves and our our values a lot more than we have since the liberals (aka "progressives") hijacked the Church in America. More Donut Man appearences will certainly help, especially with future generations.

Hi everyone! This is my first post here on Journey Home. Boy, am I glad to be here!
Back to topic, I just really pray for this guy that the Lord will open doors for him in children's ministry. I know at my parish we could really use some help in regard to kid's ministry. I led songs at mass last year for the kids in our parish school, and it was really a struggle at times finding songs that coincided with our liturgy AND songs that kids would sing and enjoy. I ended up using a lot of REALLY OLD Jesus songs from the 70's (which was fine with me and the kids loved them), but still I would have loved to have some practical direction from some like OUR Donut Man!! By the time I got the songs taught and the kids singing it was time to move to the next liturgical season, and then time to learn all over again. I am looking for to this year because the kids know most of the songs now.
Lord, please lead Rob into your perfect will.
Pam

Thanks Rick! I will definitely share my story. I just hope it doesn't end up being a short "book" LOL!
