I have just finished viewing the following DVD.

http://ninevehscrossing.com/Order-CommonGround.html

It was produced by the Kensington Community Church in Michigan. It think they are modeled after the Willow Grove Church. The Protestant Pastor is basically inteviewing the Catholic Priest asking him to address the misconceptions that Protestants have with Catholic beliefs. It is not in any way anti Catholic.

It can be a wonderful tool for an RCIA course or a class for folks reverting back to the RCC.

It sounds very good.  I noted particularly that it is given a positive review by the president of Catholic Exchange and the editor of First Things magazine, as well as by a major seminary Theology professor.  I can't afford to get a copy right now (it's $19.95 plus S&H), but I really look forward to seeing it somewhere down the road.

Bill, thank you so much for posting this resource.  It really looks excellent.

They sell a DVD of Alex Jones that contains both "No Price Too High" and "A Dinner with Alex Jones" on the same DVD for $19.95.  They also offer his wife's testimony on DVD and their book separately, and a set of both DVD's and the book for $39.95.  There are several other items that appear to fairly represent Catholic teaching, the priesthood, etc.  The web site is a Catholic site that appears to cater to materials for evangelicals.

Thanks Bill: I ordeed a copy of this DVD and it is indeed useful. I sent a copy to my SB sister. She might even get her husband to view it (if she ties him to a chair in front of the set). {just kidding -sort of!}

God's Blessings!

Thank you Bill for keeping us updated.  I was not aware of this CD and it is exciting news to think we are atleast conversing with one another.

I think I'll order the dvd to share with some special family members, in hopes we can clear up some misunderstandings.  Big brothers don't think that little sisters have any clue as to what is truth.

God Bless and take care

Betty

Bill

I cannot thank you enough for reminding me.  I already went and set the DVR to record it.

If anyone else is skipping ahead on their Dish Network Guide to record this show, The program is called;  Catholics and Protestants Can Learn.  The description is:  A Catholic Priest and a Protestant minister discuss.   And also in the Pacific NW on Dish Network it is being broadcast at 2:00 PM Saturday the 14th of July.   I just added this because I did not find anything called Common Ground and thought maybe other's might miss it by looking for Common Ground.

Thank you again Bill, I got my e-mails out to family & Friends to remind them of the program.  I would have forgotten if you'd not reminded me.

God Bless you

Betty

I ran through all my channels on cable and didn't have TBN.  Would there be an affiliate station it might be on?

A priest friend of ours lent us this DVD and we highly recommend it.  Not only does it display the very charitable attitude of these two men from divergent backgrounds, the priest provides some excellent apologetics of common misunderstood Catholic doctrines.  We sent the info about the upcoming show to over 50 friends.  I don't think it's a coincidence that this DVD is airing now, so soon after the CDF statement was released.

Here is the website for TBN.  Maybe that will be helpful to you Marsha.

Here is a website for ordering the DVD.

Thanks Deborah, the website referred me to a local channel, not called TBN but hopefully will carry the program at the same time.

Marsha, Glad to hear the link helped you out.  Let me know what you think if you do get to see it.

"We sent the info to over 50 friends"The hate mail is coming in as I write.  Just another day to "offer up" in the life of a Catholic convert. :D

Hey Deborah

I sent a ton of e-mails out today to alert others of the program too.  I ran into Docs blog thisevening and saw he had a bunch of great reviews and such and added a link to his blog to tonights e-mails to see if others wanted to see what others are saying about the Show.

I seriously cannot wait to get home on Saturday and watch it.  We're meeting family at a camp ground and staying the night tomorrow, so thank goodness for DVR, It saved the day.:P

I'm sorry that your getting angry reports, that has to be so hurtful.  I don't think I'll get any angry reports, my brothers may send my e-mails to the trashcan, but that should be the worst of it.

I personally don't understand a mind set that would not want to find some common ground in all christianity.

Please Pray for Unity

Betty

Betty,

I realized after I wrote that post that I forgot to include something.  This will explain the hate mail a little better.  Along with the information about the "Common Ground" show we sent a post from TJ's (my dh) blog.  It was his take on the recent Vatican statement which many of our separated bretheren are very upset about.

We've been hearing from them on that score.  We thought it was appropriate to send the two links together so that a dialogue would ensue.  We knew full well in sending it that the reaction might not always be positive.  After 3 years of this we are starting to learn to "offer up" the hurt in order to keep communication going.

Many of our Evangelical family and friends are ex-Catholics.  The Vatican statement has made them especially angry.

I didn't get the program "Common Ground."  Our local affiliate carried paid programming during that time.  When I was telling my husband about the program, and that it was about Protestants and Catholics talking about what they had in common, he said they'd never get together, "just look at Ireland."  I did make the point that Ireland has political problems and economic problems mixed up in their conflict as well, but he is set in his opinion.  I will watch for the title "Common Ground" in upcoming programming, maybe they will replay it here sometime.

I just revisited the Ninevehscrossing website about the Common Ground DVD and it sold out the first 1000 copies.  They are taking orders for the second release.  Maybe a lot of people are interested in good dialogue between the RCC and the Protestants/Evangelicals.  I didn't get to see it, our local channel didn't carry it :X   Did any of you get to see it and if so, what were your impressions of it?

I saw it and it was very good, mostly because it's the only one of its kind.

- It is favorable to Catholics meaning the protestant pastor is very kind to the priest

- It has some good apologetics for common misconceptions

- It is actually an excellent vocations video as the priest discusses his journey of faith

- It is protestant friendly in that the priest is kind to the pastor

We gave a copy to my pastor-brother-in-law, haven't heard a thing.

According to the website, the time has been changed for the Common Ground showing tonight.  11 PM  Pacific, so in the middle of the night for most of us.  I'm setting the VCR.    http://www.tbn.org/index.php/2/4/p/923.html

The local channel has it scheduled from 2:00 a.m. to 4:00 a.m.  I may try to tape it but I'm afraid the sound will wake family members!  It irks me that they won't show it at a time when people will actually see it.  But at least it will be on, for the first time that I'm aware of in this area.

Hi Marsha,

It was on from 1-2:30 AM here.   I hope you were able to tape it.   I haven't watched all of it yet, but I'm hoping it will be one I can give to my daughter who wants to understand why I had to do something so crazy as to get involved with catholicism!

I may be wrong, and it's too late now anyway, but I think you can tape fine with the sound turned down.

I'm always blessed by your participation here on the forum, Marsha.

Many thanks to Bill for keeping us informed on this program's airings.

Thanks Pam!  I stayed up almost all night to tape it.  As it turned out, I was home alone for the night so I could watch it and turn the sound up!  It was awesome.  I am so impressed with the protestant pastor for his cordiality and seeming genuine interest in what the RCC really believes and teaches.  The young catholic Father was never at a loss for words and although I basically knew most of the answers in a general way, he made it so new and inspiring.  I was especially taken with his comparison of a nuclear reactor and the tabernacle!  The unimaginable power of God being contained in such a small space.  It was well worth the loss of a night's sleep!
