Dear Bill, can you tell us a little more about this book?  Author?  How reading it has helped you?  I'll definitely look it up on Amazon, but I would love to know why you recommended it.  Thanks!

Elizabeth

Yes, David, the links did help.  I'm going to order this book soon.  There are a few people in my life who say that most Catholic practices are non-Biblical, so this book should help me better defend my new faith.

I knew that name Dave Armstrong sounded familiar.  I think I read some of his books back in the 1980's.  Does anyone know what he wrote as a Christian and where he received his Christian education?

:D Oh, do I have a guy I'd like to put Armstrong's book in his hands -- with a provisio of course, the he reads the book and is willing to submit to either a test or book review of it.

After all, I answered the challenge to read a version of "How to snag and bag Catholics out of their church" screed he was pushing. Actually, it was too ridiculously funny to even be considered a threat except for the fact we have so many spiritually illiterate catholics these days. Easy pickin's.

OK Stephen, is that actually the title of the book?  If not, what is the real title. If so, where can one find this book?  I've never heard of a book by this title and I find it astonishing that anyone would give a book this kind of title, no matter how anti-Catholic they are.  With a title like this, I would be very suspicious of the book's contents.  I would have been very suspicious even in the days when I urged Catholics to leave their faith.  Somehow, a title like that makes one question the motives of the author, IMO.

:D The laugh's on me! I was just being a little too humorous for the moment. Not as bad as Imus, of course, but I'm sorry if I led you on a wild goosechase.

There are such books of course. And wherever such booksellers proudly display them, I'll bet there are a few Jack Chick tomes for the ill-informed who want to stay that way.

However, in the final days, we know Whose side will have the last laugh!

PS: I'll scrounge around my computer the next day or so to find the title of such a book (or should I call it "Flock Rustlin' for Morons") I read within the past year. It was a doozy. Of course, it was written by an Irish Judas.

And, oh -- I bookmarked a review of the book you recommended by Dave Armstrong. Hope to read it soon, maybe this afternoon. Looks great and thanks for spreading the news about this book. Have you gift-wrapped an autograph copy for Mr. A?
:D

This is a very good book, you can find more about Dave at his website http://socrates58.blogspot.com/ he has a lot of apologetics and discussion there on just about every topic possible.

I will say this though. If you friend is easily angred, this might not be the first book to give him. Dave is very passionate about his beliefs and writings. My personal opinion is that it's awesome, however some people would probably find it too matter of fact for their liking. He makes no bones about why the Cathloic Faith is correct.

What he does do, very well, is to also quote Luther, Calvin and others in regards to his points, you won't find that in a lot of other books. I've been starting people out on Scott's Home Sweet Rome or Curres' Born Fundamentalist Born Again Catholic. Both are great for people who are slightly interested in the Church to get them started. Then I would give this book second.

If you don't have it though and are considering the Church, you should pick it up. It will definitely help clarify some thing and give you some good ammo when cornered by your questioning Protestant friends!

Joe

Are these 95 verses also on a website I could read now on my computer (without having to find the book)?  Are they all inclusive of that type of verse?

For what it's worth, this book is available from CHResources.  Purchases from CHResources help support the Coming Home Network, which sponsors this forum.  In other words, it helps CHN pay the bills!

I can't wait to see this book at my local Barnes and Noble store! In the meantime I gave a copy of the Ignatius article to a prominent member of the local Baptist church my family is presently members of.  Notice the word "presently."  Anyway, I couldn't resist signing off as the 5th Columnist Papistbaptist.

They're  used to getting this kind of ribbing from me. In the meantime, my boss who's daughter converted when she married her h.s. sweetheart former All Pro Tight End, Mark Chumura, tells his son in law he has to send me over the Newman Center across the street to : get this, "straighten me out."  By the way, Mark is a real SOLID Catholic. Been one all his life.
