Really strange. This group - or is it one person - thinks the TRUE pope, Pius XIII lives somewhere in the state of Washington?
Bizarre - but interesting reading.

Oh, my goodness, this is more than strange, it is deeply troublesome. I just had a conversation with my best friend, a Protestant, who is bombarding me with articles filled with half-truths about the Catholic Church. She wants to understand what is driving me to convert so she is researching what the Catholic Church teaches, and this is the kind of site that she would find in her search. It upsets me!

This is a schismatic group that has been around for a long time. They claim the papacy became vacant when the Tridentine mass was abandoned. They are called sedevacantists because they believe John XXIII "vacated" his office, and no valid successor has been elected.
In essence, they are "cafeteria Catholics" on the other end of the spectrum from people like Ted Kennedy and Nancy Pelosi, except that they don't even pretend to belong to the Catholic Church as it stands today. They reject Vatican II, the Catechism, and all the wonderful works of John Paul II.
There are other groups that make similar claims, except they say the papacy became vacant at different times, so they don't get along with each other, either. Once you take away the authority of the Church, the splits multiply.

I am very familiar with this website... when my father was trying to move me from the Catholic Church he actually used this website to try and prove there are divisions in the Church. The bottom line came down for me, I can say I am a red chair all day long, but it doesn't make it so. Nor does it make him Pope.
On a side note I had some "interesting" correspondence with this gentleman (the so-called "pope")... I ended up feeling like they were picking and choosing just like a protestant church. Just like Rick said the divisions multiply... Proves to me they aren't the Church Christ founded. No longer One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostatic Church.

Cajunrick, you left out our last Catholic stalwart candidate for the White House: the junior senator, the Brahmin catholic with the same initials of the first "c"atholic to win the presidency: whasssshisname? John F. Kerry. I think he was the astute former altar boy who came up with Pius XIII during one of the debates.
By the way, I just saw Mr. Kerry on the local tube as he walked in Holyoke's St. Patrick's Day parade. Too bad this junior senator is looking more like the long-deceased, but much better senator, and true blue Brahmin, Leverett Saltonstall, (who ironically enough, was much more helpful for Mass. Catholics than Kerry and Kennedy combined for the past half-century!)
Pius XIII, hmm, what's next: Hans Kung becomes Pope through a coup detat and becomes John XXIV? Cafeteria will be open for business then for sure!
