To All,

For years since 2003, I have picked up the CCC in trying to read it.  I am very confused with reading it and get annoyed with having to have a dictionary for every major workd.  Not to say the least I only got to uhhh the first 75 pages of it read and not really comprhending anything.  I was wondering if any of you knew of books or resources out there that would "dumb" down the words for me.  As a working mother who is involved in Church and her family I really dont have time to work out all the words and things.

  Thanks.

  Sincerely,

  Anne

Anne, I understand where you're coming from.  My problem is my attention span seems to be getting shorter, maybe age?!  Anyway, there is a Compendium to the CCC that is more readable, it is in Q & A form.  If there is a catholic bookstore near you, go in and spend a few minutes looking through the book and see if it fits your needs better.  God bless

Sure, Anne. The Compendium of the Catechism is one possibility. The Vatican has it posted online (that’s where the above link will take you), but it is also available in book form if you prefer. Another route is the United States Catholic Catechism for Adults, published by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops and available so far only in book form. Both are easier to read and digest than the CCC.

Credo Catholic,

Yes question and answer is good, and I am sure if I still dont understnad it I can post a question here.  Thanks.

  David,

Thanks for the resources.  I will certainly look into them and perhaps when my time and activites are conducive for the CCC I can and will take the time out to read them.

  Sincerely,

  Anne

Hi Anne,

Perhaps the following book would be what you are looking for:

Catholic Christianity: A Complete Catechism of Catholic Beliefs Based on the Catechism of the Catholic Church, by Peter Kreeft.

Dave,

I will certainly look into that one.  Seems like my reading list is getting longer and longer all the time.  Thanks.

  Sincerely,

Can't go wrong with Peter Kreeft! He's a great writer and thinker both.
