The Secret Cardinal by Tom Grace
http://www.tomgrace.net/books/index.asp
It's about the release of a Catholic priest from a Chinese prison during the election of a new pope. IMO, it's an excellent faith book. I only saw one swear word, no sex, there is some violence, though. I enjoy spy books, and this was a good one. With the the right mixture of religion to make it appriciate what I have, but not preachy. KWIM? If you like suspense novels, I encourage you to read it

I think it wouldn't be a bad idea to have a forum specifically for reviews of books we've read. I'm always looking for good books to read. This one sounds like it is! So, is it a novel?
I just finished a biography of St. Catherine of Siena. It taught me a lot about her, of course, but also about the circumstances surrounding the time when the pope(s) were in Avignon, France. It's called "Lay Siege to Heaven" by De Wohl. Very readable, good dialogue, held my interest to the very end. It also showed me an example of a person deeply linked to Jesus, and in constant communion with Him. It reads like a novel rather than a biography.

That's what "Recommended Resources" is for. I'll move this recommendation, so that anyone looking for a book recommendation can find it there.

Yup, it's a novel. I guess what I really like about it was how the church and cardinals were portrayed. Usually in fictional books the portrayal is less than flattering. But this book really showed a different side to all that.

Oh. I was thinking RR was more for faith related things. I guess to me this book is more of a for fun book, not really teaching me anything about the faith of the Catholic church.
Whatever floats your boat

But you called it "an excellent faith book" and that meets the criteria. I wouldn't want to encourage discussions of romance novels and spy thrillers in general, but any "excellent faith book" is certainly welcome. I posted a review and recommendation of Anne Rice's Christ the Lord: Out of Egypt some time back. That's also a work of fiction, and (in my opinion) an excellent faith book.
