Does anyone out there know of any Rosary Websites, ones that you've visited and actually had good quality rosaries? I don't mean just doing a Google Search, because I've done that and not found too many that looked of say, "GOOD QUALITY" I'm interested in purchasing one and I've been looking, but have only found one that I really liked that had some beautiful rosaries..........expensive, but beautiful. I don't mind paying a higher price if they look nice. I just would like to shop around before deciding on the one I want.
Thanks!!

Ashlyn, considering that the rosary is really a form of prayer rather than the apparatus we customarily use to say it, I have to say that quality prayer is worth much more than any material possession, however beautiful or expensive.
Nevertheless, I do understand that many people wish to honor Mary, and through her God, by using a beautiful set of beads for that prayer. There are several websites offering these. Might I suggest you begin your search here?

| Ashlyn, you could also look at http://www.RosaryShop.com for ideas. You can order a ready-made rosary there, or custom design one choosing from hundreds of beads and gemstones. As David says, in time you will probably come to value the prayer much more than the "beads" but having been a recent newcomer to the rosary, I wanted the most elegant one I could find too. My daughter and SIL gave me one for Christmas 2006. They spent a lot of time finding just the right one that wouldn't be too rough, or too smooth, too small, etc! I hate to tell them, but when I'm in the process of praying, I'm not even aware of the beads. I know they're in my hands, and I'm moving along the decades, but that's just mindless movement. I could be using my fingers just as well, and have done that at times!

I know exactly where you're coming from!
My rosaries have the biggest place in my heart, and are beautiful glass, or special bead types. The crucifix must be beautiful - of all!
Because the Rosary is metaphorically Mary's hand, why not honor her beautiful hand with a beautiful Rosary?
My pink glass Rosary broke the other day - oh, how heart-broken I was!! But received two new ones on that same day via a very special friend!
I sleep with a wooden rosary, as it cannot break. All my Rosaries are extolled at my shrine.
God bless.

Sometimes I think there is too much emphasis put on the Rosary as a Marian prayer practice.
It should always be remembered that the Rosary is a prayer and meditation on the Life and Gospel of Jesus Christ. It is Christocentric as well as biblical. In fact there is no single (formal) prayer or devotional that contains more of the biblical message of our Lord than the rosary.
Every mystery of the Rosary is a meditation on Christ. Some say the last two mysteries, which meditate on Mary's Bodily Assumption into Heaven and her being crowned Queen of Heaven, is detraction from Christ. However, she is the archetypical Christian - by meditating on the glories given her by God, we come to a deeper understanding of the glories God has in store for us. The contemplation on the Mysteries is the contemplation of Jesus through the eyes of Mary.
The method of praying the Rosary here in Germany is a little different than in most English speaking countries.
E.g. the mystery is announced as an insertion into the Hail Marys after the words “and blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus" :
1st decade … who suffered bitter agony for our sins in the garden of Gethsemane
2ndt decade … who suffered scourging at the pillar for our sins
3rd decade … who was crowned with thorns for our sins
4th decade … who carried The heavy Cross for our sins
5th decade … who died in agony on the Cross for our sins
(note: the mystery is announced with ea. of the 10 Hail Marys of the decade)
Hail Mary, Mother of God pray for us sinners now and in the hour of our death, amen
When I get some time I’ll translate the whole Rosary and post it.

I've seen it done that way, Robert, and it's beautiful. I hope you will share it with us.
