We are an independent school of faithful Catholics in our fifth year of existence. Though independent, we have good relationships within the Church. We offer an unusual classical curriculum to children in the primary grades. Our goal is to form minds well by giving a thorough introduction to the roots of western culture through classical language studies, classical history and classical literature.
We seek skilled and faithful Catholic teachers to whom we offer good family wages.
We seek a Dean of Studies with a Ph.D. in History, Classics, Philosophy, English or Philosophy with experience in school administration who can oversee the ongoing creation and management of our curriculum. Salary will be from 50K to 70K.
We seek a Latin or Greek teacher to join our existing classics instructor and assist the Dean with curriculum improvements while teaching Latin to Kindergarten through 8th and Greek to 3rd through 8th. Experience with teaching to younger grades is essential as is a superior ability in Attic Greek and Latin. Salary will be commensurate with experience from $35K to $55K.
We seek four classroom teachers within our grade school. We have two teachers leaving us due to marriage and two openings due to expansion. Classrooms are self contained. Teachers must have a deep commitment to the Catholic faith AND classical learning but also have ability in the instruction of small children. Salary will be commensurate with experience from $30K to $50K.
We seek a Science Specialist for our middle school grades who can help design and oversee a small science laboratory to offer high school quality in our middle school. The teacher must be creative and resourceful and have some knowledge of the classical roots of modern science. Salary will be commensurate with experience from $30K to $50K.
Applicants should contact Mr. John Barth, Hiring Committee Chairman at careers@cardinalnewmanschool.org and should send both a good resume and an exhaustive cover letter explaining their skills.

Hello,
I am inquiring about a post from a year ago. Are there any teaching positions opening for the coming year (2008-9)? I have family in Houston and would like to move closer to them. I have taught Spanish K-8, 1st & 2nd grades, and 6th grade English in Catholic schools.
My name is Elizabeth Clarke. I sent a resume to the Cardinal Newman School last year, but ultimately decided to stay where I was. I am married; my husband is also looking at a job opportunity in the Houston area this spring, and I am still interested in the Newman school. I would be glad to send another copy of the letter and resume, if necessary.
Please reply on this forum if there is any opening, and I will call or email you back ASAP. Thank you for your time.
Elizabeth Clarke

The person who posted this message has never posted on the forum again, and I suspect he registered just to post the job opening. I would encourage you to contact the school directly with a new copy of your resume. Hopefully the email address is still valid.
