1) We are only supposed to get baptized one time in our life

Eph. 4:5

2) Baptism has taken the place of circumcision

Col. 2:11–12

3) And circumcision was normally done to infants to bring them into God’s covenant based on the faith of their parents and on a promise made by their parents to raise their child in the faith

Genesis 17:12

4) But Baptism is universally for males and females

Acts 8:12-13, Galatians 3:27-28

5) Baptism washes away our sins, regenerates us, and renews us in the Holy Spirit

Acts 2:37-39, Acts 22:16 and Titus 3:5

6) Baptism is necessary for our salvation

Mark 16:16, John 3:5, 1 Peter 3:21

7) Baptism is done with water

John 3:5, John 3:22-23, Acts 8:36, 1 Peter 3:20-21, and Ezek 36:25-27

8) Jesus instructed his disciples to baptize everyone who wanted to follow him, John 4:1

9) Jesus instructed his disciples to baptize all nations in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit

Matt. 28:19, John 4:1-2

10) Baptism is done to everyone in the household without exception

Acts 2:39, Acts 16:15, and Acts 16:33

11) Infants/children are the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven God reveals Himself to them in ways adults can’t understand.

“At that time the disciples approached Jesus and said, ‘Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?’ He called a child over, placed it in their midst, and said, ‘Amen, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven.’” (Matt. 18:1-3)

“People were bringing even infants to him that he might touch them, and when the disciples saw this, they rebuked them. Jesus, however, called the children to himself and said, ‘Let the children come to me and do not prevent them; for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Amen, I say to you, whoever does not accept the kingdom of God like a child will not enter it.’” (Luke 18:15-17)

“because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes” (Matt. 11:25)

Thanks for the post, Steve, and welcome to the forum.  Was there a question or comment in there somewhere that I missed?

Rick,

No, I don't have a question about Baptism. I just wanted to make my first post by sharing some Biblical reasons for what Catholics believe about Baptism.

Steve

OK, thanks.  In the future you might want to explain your intention.  Not that there's anything wrong with what you posted (there isn't), but it has the appearance of a list of scripture verses that a Catholic basher might post to contradict Church teaching, and that is not permitted here.  Just a suggestion -- I wouldn't want anyone to mistake your intention.

Thanks for the post, and welcome to the forum.  (I think I read that somewhere!)

Rick,

Thanks for the advise. I would edit the post to put my intention in the beginning of it, but it won't let me edit it because it has been longer than 6 hours. But, I will state my intention up front from now on. I try to do my best to defend the Catholic faith.

Thank you Betty. I've been busy lately with my family, so I haven't had a lot of time to post things.

May God bless you.
