I credit Barbara Curtis of the Mommy Life blog with getting me started on my journey toward historic Christianity. She posted her latest thoughts about sola Scriptura here if anyone is interested:

http://www.mommylife.net/archives/2008/02/evangelical_to_4.html

She's hoping for comments, so feel free to share with her what you've learned.

You can read about her journey here:

Someday I'll figure out how to link properly. :?

That was good! One of the reasons I could never find a "home", I simply could not figure out who was right, scripture left to private interpratation has been a nightmare!

The concept of sol scriptura is an interesting one. The few religions I have looked into all use and hold dear authors, other than those of the Bible. Examples include, Joseph Smith, Ellen White, Mary Baker Eddy, et al. From my perspective, the RCC is the only church that openly states that there are other sources available to us, to help each of us, on our respective Journey.

I know what you mean, Mark. For most of my Christian life I've had questions that never seemed to be answered from strictly sola Scriptura. At least I am seeing in the Catholic Church the desire and serious attempt (and it is no easy task!) to bring all Scriptures into the picture rather than ignoring some while focusing on others like we Protestants often do. I think that's why Protestants, on viewing Catholicism at merely a surface level, assume it to be full of errors. Rather, if we're honest, it's the only faith entity that deals with the Scriptures fully and wholeheartedly!

Wow, I have just finished reading all 19 installments of Barbara's ongoing conversion story.  Thanks, Kim, for that wonderful link.  She voices the same difficulty I am experiencing trying to walk amidst both the Protestant and Catholic communities for the sake of my family.  It's always comforting to know you're not alone.

But I AM holding you responsible for the ruins of my home schooling schedule, as my I have been glued to the computer for the past two days.  My kids love ya though!
