My friend wrote: "I don't know if I've asked this already but if you are so compelled to be a part of the Catholic Church, largely on account of its claim to unity for however many hundreds of years and also its solidarity of doctrine, then why did you not convert to eastern orthodoxy which is both older than the Roman Catholic Church and in regards to doctrine has changed less than the Roman Catholic Church? Don't forget that the initial Roman pope was a rogue pope (so to speak) that is the Roman Catholic Church seceded from the eastern orthodox church and not the other way around. If I remember correctly the schism was primary political having to do with Charlemagne desiring the title of "Holy Roman Emperor," and then pulling religious strings to get it. I don't actually know much about that though so anyways why not Greek or Eastern Orthodox if they have a more authentic claim at being the first unified church?"
There are a lot of questions there and, it seems to me, a lot of misinformation? Where would be the best place to begin???
Thanks for your help....

P.S. The article about Rich Mullins was in "manphibian's" testimony from a day or two ago.
