When I found out there was a Saint for lost things, I was thrilled. I am pretty flaky and can spend several frustrating hours searching for an item. I ask for his intercession and I find the item within minutes. In fact I cannot think of a time this hasn't worked. I started praying to him at work. I work as a payroll tax accountant and I am constantly under pressure of deadlines and problems to fix. He has helped me much in this last year (our company was bought out and my whole department either quit or got laid off). I was certain 2 years ago my job was going to be eliminated. In this last year they have changed their minds and decided to create a position for me and gave me a substantial raise to keep me there. I ask for his prayer in many areas in my life and have felt the power of his prayers. I almost feel like he is the patron saint for flaky people.
I share this with you to help you understand the role he has played in my life. He is a true encouragement. But my friend, who is a fallen away Catholic, resents God, prayer, and anything spiritual. She lost her wallet two weeks ago, is in a new city, living with here sister with her 4 kids, no SS card or DL to get a new job, and her husband has left her. She finally got a job offer, with the condition she takes a UA prior to starting. She needs her DL for this and this is in the wallet. She is in such a bad situation financially she really needs this information and quickly because she needed to take the UA tomorrow morning (6 week waiting period for a new SS card to get a DL). I spoke with her on the phone and she was just so upset. I told her to ask for St Anthony's intercession. She reluctantly said ok and told me she would call me back after. We got off the phone and I ask for his intercession as well. Within 10 minutes I was curling up for my Sunday nap I got a call... you guessed it, she found her wallet!! She not only was excited that she found her wallet, but that her prayers were answered. She has lived convinced the last 4 years that if God did exist, that he didn't care about her. She was shocked to see He cared about her wallet!
Thank you God for the beautiful graces you shower on your people. Thank you St Anthony for praying for us.

Don't forget that St. Matthew the apostle was a tax collector. He's the patron of accountants, and he's available to help too!
You can read more about St. Matthew here.
