| I have been reading a book about St. Bernadette, and am fascinated by the way she was treated by those around her. After going through some awful interrogations and allegations of fraud, her apparitions by the Blessed Mother were finally accepted. But then, she was hounded day and night by people who wanted her to bless them, bless their rosaries and medals. They even tried to cut little pieces of her hair and clothing. It was much like today's celebrities who can't go out without security. She was paraded in front of crowds, made to tell her story over and over and over. And all the time she was very sick. Now I wonder, are all the "relics" these people got from her still around? There must be thousands of them, and how do we know which are valid? Are there any first class relics known? Are all the Lourdes water rosaries considered relics, since they come from the spring she dug with her hands? It's a great book!

Most of the relics would be unauthenticated, and as such of no worth except in the individual’s eyes. Lourdes water is considered a sacramental, just as any other blessed object (here, “holy water”).
Yes, there are first class relics of St. Bernadette, the most obvious being her still incorrupt body, which reposes at the convent of St. Gildard in Nice, France.
