Hello All,
I was just reading GoFisher's comment on the Deep in Scripture Discussion on Baptism. The example given was in Acts where hundreds of families were baptized, and apparently not in the "conventional" Protestant fashion by emmersion and as an adult. Can someone direct me to this passage in scripture?
This issue of Baptism is one that keeps many Protestants from entering the Catholic faith. I have had my struggles with it so I speak from experience. I would like to be able to better defend the Catholic position. Does anyone have any good ideas or resources that I can make use of in order to accomplish this? I think it is very important that Catholics be able to defend the Catholic Churches teaching on Baptism.

I think the more important question is where is the scriptural support for baptism by immersion only?
Catholics United for the Faith have a Faith Fact on what is necessary for a valid baptism.
Catholic Answers also publishes a tract called Baptism: Immersion Only? which examines the scriptural rationale used to support baptism by immersion only.
And if I'm not mistaken, most Protestant denominations accept baptism by pouring (Lutherans, Methodists, Anglicans, etc.) and baptism of infants.

Rick,
Thanks for your speedy reply. I will check into those resources. BTW, I noticed that I spelled immersion incorrectly. I really don't like typos. Seems I have a few of them. Often, I am typing rather quickly and skim over what I have read and miss it. Then, when it is posted, the typo seems to glare at me!

That's why there's an edit button and a spell-checker!
