I'm a revert convert, if that makes any sense. I believe completely in the teachings of the Church. Intellectually, I truly believe in the Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist. But when I watch the celebration of the Mass, my heart just can't take it in that it is really Jesus up there. Do you all have any suggestions on how I can comfortably and completely accept that it is really Jesus, body, blood, soul, and divinity in the Eucharist? Thanks.

Welcome to CHN.  We're glad you dropped by.

The first answer is prayer.

The second answer is to take a look at some resources which include the ancient teachings of the Church.  Catholics United for the Faith have a Faith Fact on the Real Presence which you'll find here.

The third answer is to look at the current beliefs of the Church.  It just so happens that the U.S. Bishops approved a document today called Happy Are Those Who Are Called to His Supper: On Preparing to Receive Christ Worthily in the Eucharist.  The first section is entitled, "What Do We Really Believe About Holy Communion?  It states the current belief of the Church in the Real Presence in concise terms, with footnotes.

And the fourth answer is prayer.  As you attend mass, let God's grace work on you.

The rest will take care of itself if you remain open to the possibility.

Thanks Rick. The best suggestion is prayer I think. I've been devouring books and watching EWTN since I've come back to the Faith. I read Scott Hahn's "The Last Supper" which was wonderful. There are others I would still like to read in the list on the CUF website you gave me.

It was prayer to have a more childlike faith that really removed the scales from my eyes and awakened me to so many truths that I had not seen before even after 34 years of being a Christian, and which finally brought me home again to the Catholic Faith. Prayer is so powerful.
