I knw this subject comes up once in a while and I should know the answer. But I always get a little uncertain when it is time to apply it.
I mostly attend Eastern Catholic services. Tomorrow is the second biggest feast day for them. The Baptism of Jesus. It is bigger than Christmas as far as they think significance wise and second to Easter.
But I am still trying to live faithfully as an offiical Latim Rite Catholic. Tomorrow is a different feastday for us. Epiphany I believe. So I feel like I want to celebrate both. I wanted to go to a vigil mass tonight but am unable to, so I want to go to an early mass tomorrow and then my regualr Byzantine service so as not to miss my first chance to celebrate this important day with my church family. I know that it probably fulfills my obligation to just go to the Eastern service even though it is not the same feast day, but I want to actually participate in the celebration of both and feel like since I am required to go to Epiphany as a Latin catholi, that the spiritually wise thing to do is to actually celebrate that mass at a church that is celebrating it.
So, if I go to two different churches tomorrow, I am assuming I should receive the Eucharist both times since I am fully participating and have valid reasons or interests to be at both. I take a friend to one of them actually as well, giving me more reason to be there.
But I think the rule is that you can receive twice in a day (unless you have special permission to receive more for some important reason) as long as you fully participate whatever your reasons are for being there. Is this correct?

Brian, you have a valid reason to attend a second liturgy. You may receive the Eucharist twice provided you meet the other requirements (state of grace, participation at the Liturgy, etc.).

i would like to attend Palm Sunday services in the morning with the family and take communion but I will have to attend again at 5 pm with a widowed friend- she will not go up if I don't so should abstain from the Eucharist at the family service in the am of would I be considered to have a valid reason for communion at both services?

You have a valid reason and you may receive at both services.
