| This is a good news/bad news problem. The good news is I lost a bit over 50 pounds in the last year! The bad news is my wedding ring has gotten very loose and I probably need at least a half size smaller. Not sure if it can be cut and resized or add an insert or if I need to replace it. As long as the weather stays hot which will be this month and next month, my hands stay puffy enough to not make me drop it off by accident. I do have trouble with it falling off in the pool. So to get to the point, since the ring was blessed, can it be altered to fit better in any way or am I stuck with it, as is, or skipping wearing it?

| I don't know about the ring Becky, but I salute you for losing the weight! I have about starved myself this summer just to lose ten lbs. And it's not worth it! What was your method?

Becky, a blessed object does not lose its blessing unless it is destroyed or mutilated to the point that it is no longer usable for the purpose originally intended. None of the modifications you propose would destroy the ring, but only make it possible to continue wearing it, according to its original purpose. Therefore, you can proceed with confidence that it will not lose its blessing.

David has given you the definitive answer (the blessing remains valid) but there would be no reason not to have your rings blessed again. It would serve to bless your efforts to lose weight as well, and give you a great opportunity to brag about it.
I know how hard you had to work to do it. I'm down about 70 pounds so far, but I still have more to go. I just had to buy my second new belt, and pretty soon I'm going to have to get a whole new wardrobe.
But be sure you do get the ring altered. Someone very close to me (but I won't mention her name) lost about 50 pounds and her engagement ring as well. We both decided that we don't need rings to prove we're married, so they are now safely stored away. But the engagement ring is gone forever.
