Fr. Zuhlsdorf (also known as Fr. Z, a moderator on the Catholic Answers Forum) has a blog called WDTPRS... that is, What Does the Prayer Really Say?  The title of the blog comes from its original posts which were designed to present a more accurate translation of the Latin text of the Mass of Paul VI into English (because as he shows, the ICEL translations are pretty awful pretty often).

A recent topic on the blog has been on the letters that Bishops and Archbishops have written to their dioceses on the motu proprio.  Fr. Z is now directing the next several episodes of his podcast (or PODCAzT, as he calls it) to Josef Cardinal Ratzinger's book "Spirit of the Liturgy" from 2000.  Cardinal Ratzinger is, of course, now Pope Benedict XVI.

I just got a copy of this book a week ago (for my membership donation to Adoremus, the Society for the Renewal of the Sacred Liturgy) but haven't opened it yet... I'm still working my way through a few essays about "subsistit in".

Anyway, this past week's PODCAzT is on the location of the Altar, the direction the priest faces in worship, why they are as they are, and why it's important.

Jeff, I too like Fr Z's web site WDTPRS, which I recently discovered. His caustic humor is hilarious as he comments on letters that insult the Motu Proprio. The last one I read was the letter written by the obviously liberal Superior General of the Viatorians. Fr Z identifies the ignorant and misguided opinions with accurate sarcasm.
