Just to share a little something for comment if people wish.

I am sixty-five years old and hope to be received into the Catholic Church next Easter Vigil. I was not raised Catholic, but for two years I attended a Catholic school where we went to mass every morning.  This would have been in the late 1940's so naturally the Mass was in Latin.  A few years ago I attended a "Latin " Mass for the first time in many years.  Imagine my shock when without even realizing it, I was repeating the  Latin as though those masses were yesterday and not over fifty years ago!  I came away in tears -- how those seeds were planted so long ago.  The nuns NEVER "pressured" us about becoming Catholic or singled us out -- those were good years.:)

One of the beauties of a set liturgy is just what you are saying.  When we are in dire circumstances, we don't have to make up the words; all we need to do is remember what comes to mind of the Mass.  The prayers are there in our heads ready to bring comfort and strength whenever we need them.  I've had sort of a rough year (not as bad as some here) but the simple prayer of the Rosary always helped me relax and brought me much peace in the midst of anxious times.

Hi Betsy, welcome to the forum!  I joined the catholic church at age 58 in 2006.  Better late than never, right?  I look forward to hearing from you here, we all have a good bit in common.  God bless
