Father decided to give a homily for Respect Life Month on surrogate parenting, fertility drugs, etc. He told us all about donor sperm, donor eggs, surrogate mothers, court cases involving surrogate mothers, etc. etc. This was one time when the parents were making no effort to shush their children. Yes, PLEASE bang that kneeler up and down, shred that missallette, jangle those car keys. I felt like standing up and loudly singing AMAZING GRAAAACE, HOW SWEEEET THE SOUND… to drown the guy out. But on and on he went. Fortunately he is a boring speaker and the kids were mostly tuned out. But I can imagine the lunch table conversation, "Mommy, are you a surrogate mother? :?Daddy, what is donor sperm?”:? There were knots of vigorously gesturing people around the mini-vans after Mass.

First Fr. Funnypriest and now this. I asked a friend if perhaps I have not been seeing the best the diocese has to offer? He rolled his eyes and groaned.:P

Annie, Annie, Annie!  You are too funny :D !   Okay, were his facts anatomically correct?  Were the children embarrassed or was it the parents?  Be thankful that Respect Life month only comes around once a year!

Reminds me of the story of a little girl who asked her daddy, "Where did I come from?"  He launched into the whole "birds and bees" story and at the end he asked, "Did I answer your question?"

The little girl said, "Not really.  Johnny said he was from Toledo and I wanted to know where I came from."

However, I do think such a "homily" is totally inapproprate in church.  I wouldn't want to hear such a presentation without advance notice and the opportunity to stay home, or find another church.

I have to admit I am badly spooked by all this. When I left my former parish I was told by Fr. Funnypriest that this same priest had a history of talking about sexual matters inappropriately in mixed age groups and the parishioners were sick of it. I discounted this because Fr. Fp has a habit of gossiping and making up stories about people which is why I left his parish, he made up untrue stories about me that made me look bad. He had told me he has children in his parish's school who were pulled out of the school at my parish, presumably over this issue.

But I shall look the other way along with everybody else as there is no accountability for anything around here. Where was the senior pastor in all this? Personally, I feel this is child abuse and I wonder about the reason for this behavior as it seems to be persistent.

shutting up now (permanently),
