At my Church we sing the Gospel acclamation appropriate with the season, but we do not say at the end of the Gospel reading, "Praise To You Lord Jesus Christ". Instead, we sing the Gospel acclamation again. Some people have stated that this is because the hymn acts as saying "Praise To You Lord Jesus Christ". Is this true?
-God Bless.
Anyone else have this happen at their church?

| My parish doesn't do this, but I have attended Mass at parishes that do. Maybe I stumbled into yours. I'm sure it doesn't render the sacrament invalid, and I'm sure some liturgist decided that a Gospel reading tradition that goes all the way back to 1970 was getting pretty long in the tooth and needing changing.

I have come to the conclusion that if someone likes something enough to incorporate it into the Mass, they will find many reasons why it is valid, be it valid in the eyes of the Church or not.
In this case, I really do not know if eliminating the "Praise..." is liturgical abuse or not. However, we have tagged the GA to end of the Gospel Reading at Easter before, BUT after all have said "Praise..." I don't see it being done at every Mass and would believe that eliminating it is like eliminating "Amen" to our prayers; not right. Perhaps you can encourage your Pastor to have the people say "Praise..." followed by the sung acclamation, covering all bases!
