Hello

With all the discussion and news about the liturgy changes or possible changes to the Latin.  I thought maybe others would be interested in learning the prayers and responses for mass, So I spent the evening typing them up for others if they are interested.

In my word document they are in colums with the Latin on the right and the english on the left.  I'm not sure why it does not work out for me here.  But if anyone wants the word document you can PM your e-mail to me and I'll send the word document to you.

Lord Jesus Christ, only Son of the Father, Lord God, Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world; have mercy on us.  You are seated at the right hand of the father; receive our prayer. For you alone are the Holy One, you alone are the Lord, you alone are the most High, Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit, in the glory of God the Father. Amen

Credo

Confiteor unum baptisma in remissionem peccatorum. Et exspecto resurrectionem mortuorum, et vitam venture saeculi.  Amen

Nicene Creed

We believe in one God, The Father, the Almighty, maker of Heaven and earth, of all that is seen and unseen.

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, god from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, one in being with the Father.  Through Him all things were made.  For us men and for our salvation he came down from Heaven:

All bow during this line:

By the power of the Holy Spirit He was born of the Virgin Mary, and became man.

For our sake He was crucified under Pontius Pilate; He suffered, died, and was buried. On the third day He rose again in fulfillment of the Scriptures; He ascended into Heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and His kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son. With the Father and the Son He is worshiped and glorified. He has spoken through the Prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. WE look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come.  Amen

Sanctus

Sanctus, sanctus, sanctus, Dominus Deus Sabaoth, Pleni Sunt Caeli et terra Gloria tua.  Hosanna in excelsis.  Benedictus Qui venit in nomine Domini.  Hosanna in excelsis.

Holy, Holy, Holy

Holy, holy, holy, Lord God, Almighty, Heaven and earth are filled with your glory. Hosanna in the highest.  Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.  Hosanna in the highest.

Mysterium Fidei

Mortem tuam annuntiamus, Domine, et Tuam resurrectionem confitemur, donec venias.

Memorial Acclamation

Christ has died

Christ is risen,

Christ will come again.

Pater Noster

Pater nostra, qui es in caelis, sanctificetur nomen tuum. Adveniat regnum tuum. Fiat voluntas tua, sicut in caelo et in terra. Panem nostrum quotidianum da nobis hodie, et dimitte nobis debita nostra sicut et nos dimittimus debitoribus nostris. Et ne nos inducas in tentationem, sed libera nos a malo. Amen

Our Father (The Lord’s Prayer)

Our Father, who art in Heaven hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth, as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.  Amen

Agnus Dei

Agnus Dei, qui tollis peccata mundo Miserere nobis.

Agnus Dei, quitollis peccata mundi, Miserere nobis.

Agnus Dei, qui tollis peccata mundi, dona nobis pacem.

Lamb of God

Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us.

Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us.

Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world, grant us peace.

I'm trying to prepare myself for the upcoming possibility that we will be doing more in Latin.  Father has already incorporated some of these into certain sunday masses and has some great information about the hymns in Latin too.  If anyone is interested.

Betty

If anyone is interested in the changes or explaination of possible changes in the liturgical music, here is a three part article that my parish priest wrote up to us.  He just confirms the importance of our participation and refers to some other church documents where different popes have written material on the Divine Liturgical music during mass and how we should participate and appreciate this in our worship.

It's often been said the only Latin that most Catholics remember is "Kyrie, Eleison".

Actually, the Kyrie is the only part of the mass that is in Greek.  It is also one of the oldest parts of the mass and was said in Greek even when Latin was the common language of the people.

As for your Word document, Betty, you can post it as an attachment, or if you want to send it to me, I can convert it to a PDF file for you.

Mr. Rick

Thank you for adding the explaination of the Kyrie being in Greek.  I had read that somewhere, but did not remember it.

I tried to send you the word document and I think I sent it to the wrong network person.  I thought you had e-mailed me before, and the network e-mail address was the one I had for you???  Anyway, Could you send me your correct e-mail and I'll send it right to you.  Thanks for all you do for us.

Betty

Your welcome Katy!

I'm looking forward to see what the Holy Father has to say tomorrow.

The Compendium of the Catechism of the Catholic Church has a wealth of prayers in English and Latin in its appendix.  That makes it all the more precious to own!
