I just wanted to thank you all and update you on my dialogs with both non-Catholic ministers.
First and foremost, thank you all for the prayers as I went through this test of faith. Because of your prayers, kind words, and great support I was bold enough to stop just answering the one with the website. And have a better approach with the ones who are friends.
In the website guy's last e-mail he actually yelled at me. I figure I hit a nerve, and will continue to pray that the nerve was bringing him home. He also accused me of changing the subject. In fact, he changed the subject TWICE in that e-mail. Thanks to CajunRick, I felt confident enough to call him on it. I pointed out that he was accusing me of changing from apostleship to ordination (using Matthias and Barnabas from Acts as examples), while I was still on topic, namely apostolic teaching (I had also used Timothy). He then switched to infant baptism, which I pointed out and answered. I continue to pray for him, but haven't heard back. It's been a couple of weeks now. I am having a mass said for him, and continue to ask you all for prayers for his reversion.
As for my friends, the Baptist minister and his wife . . .
She did exactly what I had seen on the Journey Home. It was the one with the Lutheran couple. Marcus asked what they did about the "works" parts of the bible. They said that they just kept hammering Romans and faith alone. After I had sent her an e-mail explaining that we are called to our works as an ourpouring of our faith, and that it is God who gives us the grace to do those works. That said, we will be held accountable for those works, and judged accordingly. She, after some time, e-mailed back asking me to read Romans, meditate on the Grace Paul talks about, and apply it to the bible verses I sited refering to works. Her husband sent me a Bible e-study on Romans. Funny thing is that I ordered Scott Hahn's study guide for Romans. Before I got their bible study invitation, I was trying to find a way to share this one openly. Now, I know the Spirit will move my fingers and I will be able to share mine and we'll be able to compare. I chose Scott Hahn's because he has the fullness of both perspectives; Protestant and Catholic, and maybe he can make a bridge for us.
Thanks again for all your support. As you can see, it has been tremendously helpful.

I am a ham radio operator. One morning when I was talking with some friends scattered around the West, a fellow, who was notorious for trying to turn every conversation into a religious discussion, came on and started trying his usual tricks to change the conversation. I had a good idea where some of his nerves were so I asked him a couple of questions. In his finest pseudo-christian approach, he swore a "blue streek" at me. At that point, I knew I was right!!!
