| Is the Midnight Mass an acceptable Mass for Christmas day obligations?

| I always enjoyed the late service at our Anglican church and it was but an imitation of a Catholic midnight mass so I am sure I shall. Christmas Eve gets Hectic for us though- the kids and Dh will attend the family service early in the evening -at the Anglican church - they have all said though that I shouldn't bother to come Yipee, then my daughter wants to come with me at midnight which will be nice to have the company, Another relative who usually attends church with us on Christmas Eve and Ash Wednesday would like to go to church but only if I go too- the service she wants to attend is at 9 pm- it will be a more work a day mass without the Choir- needless to say I am not keen on that one. So I am tossing my desire to go to the service that means the most to me on one hand and my guilt at not being unselfish enough to go with my Family member at the early service. Then of course there is the residual guilt of not going to church with the family! On my divided home front though our son will be going to church but will not be an Altar server. He said that he needed to go to church on Christmas Eve and will be closing things with his old Church. Our daughter privately told me that she hopes he makes his decision soon as she is sticking it out at the Anglican church so as not to put further pressure on him. When School gets back in session she wants to join the Church. She did ask if it would be possible to just join privately with her brother because she feels that the very crowded Easter Vigil will intimidate him too much. I am hoping that our Msr. will allow this in light of the autism issues which make public speaking so hard for him. Hey Rick this drifted off topic a little.... Oh the stress of a divided household!

Yes. So are vigil masses.
Also, it is possible (although it seems strange) for a priest to choose to hold "midnight mass" earlier in the evening. One parish near my home has midnight mass scheduled at 9 p.m.
