God's peace.  I know that the common interpretation of Rev. 12:4 is that the  stars represent angels, 1/3 of which were swept into battle by the devil on his side.  This number is not corroborated elsewhere in the Protestant bible.  Are there any references in the Deuterocanonicals that might shed more light on this?  Blessings, ~Br_Carlo~

Not that I know of, Br. Carlo. I did several keyword searches in my biblical database, but it turned up nothing significant. There are references to individual demons and to the devil, but not to “one third” or even a group of demons.

FWIW, here are the footnotes from the NAB included Rev 12:1-6:

12:114:20Rev 12:5Rev 12:7-9Rev 12:13-17Rev 13:1-10Rev 13:11-18Rev 14:1-20Genesis 37:9-10Rev 12:5Rev 12:613-17Isaiah 50:166:7Jeremiah 50:12Genesis 3:16Isaiah 66:7-14Rev 12:920:2Psalm 74:13-14Job 26:12-13Psalm 89:11Rev 19:12Rev 19:15Psalm 2:9Rev 11:2.

I find it strange that the NAB does not include a Marian reference for the woman, but it doesn't.
