Friends,
I was wondering about meditations to accompany the praying of the Divine Mercy Chaplet. I've heard that some people meditate on the five wounds of Jesus individually at each decade of the Chaplet.
I can't seem to find a source that puts the meditations together with the Chaplet. I am praying the Chaplet every morning on my way to work as a part of my Lenten prayers, and I would like to add the mysteries of the five wounds as meditations with it.
Help?
Ruth

I can't seem to find a source that puts the meditations together with the Chaplet.
That’s because there are no “official meditations” for the Divine Mercy Chaplet as there are with the Rosary (although even with the Rosary one can choose other themes as appropriate; one is not bound to certain set topics). If you want to meditate, you can choose your own topics, such as the suggested five wounds of Jesus or perhaps, during Lent, a moral or spiritual theme in consonance with the penitential acts you have chosen. This is your chance to be creative and to investigate, say, through the use of a book of meditations, some topics of importance to you personally. What are your aspirations? What are your weaknesses? What is God whispering to you? Follow your heart.

Dear Ruth,
What I can offer is a strictly private set of meditations that I was inspired to write for my family after reading St. Faustina's diary some years ago. This is the way we pray the Divine Mercy chaplet as a family. Again, this is strictly a private meditation, so you are free to use it or not as you see fit.
God's Blessings! paul
---
(Make the Sign of the Cross)
While reciting the Chaplet of Divine Mercy, meditate on the particular agony with empathy; contemplate His suffering, along with the sins He redeemed and cleansed, and the graces He bestowed on us.
“They shall look on Him whom they have pierced.”
Opening Prayer
Lord Jesus,
We pray, through the power of Your Chaplet of Divine Mercy, for all those souls most in need of Your Mercy and Salvation, especially the dying. Abandon them not, as Just Judge, to the eternal flames they most and truly deserve. Instead, rescue them from the grasp and snares of satan, the malignant enemy and his cohorts, and carry them in Your Loving Hands, to the home of Your Father, where they may unceasingly praise You, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Merciful Jesus,
We pray to our most Blessed Mother, through the Power of Your Unfathomable Mercy, that God’s plan is carried out and that each act of evil and every work of satan is turned to the Glory of God.
Amen
(Our Father, Hail Mary, Creed)
The Spiritual Agony of His Passion [First “Our Father” and 3 “Hail Mary” beads]
In the Garden of Gethsemane -
In atonement for the impenitent sinner, we pray:
Lord Jesus, please grant us the grace of Conversion.
(Eternal Father...)
- Prayer for Mercy for the Whole World -
(Recite after each decade of the Chaplet of Divine Mercy.)
Glory be to the Father, to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.
I beg for Your Mercy on behalf of myself, my family, my community, my country, and for the whole world, but most especially for the dying, the rejected, the abandoned, the unloved, the forgotten, the lonely and the desperate.
Lord Jesus, please open Your Sacred Heart and let Your Mercy flow down upon us and drown us in your Compassion and Love.
“O Blood and Water which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fountain of Mercy for us, I trust in You!”
The First Agony of His Passion [1st Decade]
The Scourging at the pillar -
In atonement for the sins of impure thoughts and actions
we pray: Lord Jesus, please grant us the grace of Purity.
(Eternal Father...)
The Second Agony of His Passion [2nd Decade]
The Crowning with thorns -
In atonement for the sins of envy and pride, we pray:
Lord Jesus, please grant us the graces of Joy and Humility.
(Eternal Father...)
The Third Agony of His Passion [3rd Decade]
The Nailing of Jesus’ hands to the Cross -
In atonement for the sins of gluttony and laziness, we pray:
Lord Jesus, please grant us the graces of suffering, fidelity and perseverance,
by which You bore Your Cross on Calvary.
(Eternal Father...)
The Fourth Agony of His Passion [4th Decade]
The Nailing of Jesus’ feet to the Cross -
In atonement for the sins of greed and desire, we pray:
Lord Jesus, please grant us the graces of Kindness and Charity.
(Eternal Father...)
The Final Agony of His Passion [5th Decade]
Our Lord thirsts, and we offer Him vinegar to drink -
In atonement for the sins of anger, we pray:
Lord Jesus, please grant us Your patience and Your Peace.
(Eternal Father...)
Concluding Prayer
As He hangs upon the wood of the Cross, in the final hour of agony, behold, on our Savior’s Loving Face, the gaze of His Mercy upon the whole world.
(Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One…)

Does anyone know where I can get the voice track or DVD of the Devine Mercy Chaplet shown/sung on EWTN?
That is the nicest version I have ever heard.

Go to the EWTN site, in the catalog. There are two recordings available there - and both have been played on EWTN. Both are nice, too. 8-)

Paul,
Thank you for sharing this meditation. I prayed this version yesterday morning. The meditations are very powerful!
I also tried to post this yesterday, but the system wouldn't let me :-(
Pax,
Ruth
