I am the type of person that frets things at night, falling asleep fast but waking up after a few hours with all my worries going round and round in my head.  Now I have prayed the Rosary at the time on my fingers-( don't want to risk waking my husband up by looking for the beads- what I do is  say the pendant part visualizing the Crucifix and the beads then when I get to the decades I use the fingers of one hand  thumb to small finger and back for each "hail bead" then as I say the "Glory" I bend a finger on the other hand- before I start the our father I  think about what ever I am fretting about then go on- I find that somewhere along the way I fall asleep and stay that way till morning. Don't know  how kosher that is as prayer for God but boy sure works for me:applause

My mother always told me that if I fell asleep praying the rosary, my Blessed Mother would finish it for me.  :praying:

Sounds like a real sweet way to end the day - having prayer as the last thing on your mind.

Blessings,
Bill

Well it seems to work for me- since sleep difficulties go hand in hand with autism and our son sometimes is awake most of the night and we have tried  every thing nonmedicated I think that I will suggest it to him see if if works the same way:applause:applause

My prayer is that God's peace will enter his heart and bring a peacefull night's sleep for all:

Psa 4:3-8  But know that the LORD has set apart the godly for himself; the LORD hears when I call to him.  (4)  Be angry, and do not sin; ponder in your own hearts on your beds, and be silent. Selah  (5)  Offer right sacrifices, and put your trust in the LORD.  (6)  There are many who say, "Who will show us some good? Lift up the light of your face upon us, O LORD!"  (7)  You have put more joy in my heart than they have when their grain and wine abound.  (8)  In peace I will both lie down and sleep; for you alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety.

Peace,

Bill

It is the sweetest thing to fall off during prayer with my Lord. All cozied up and talking in low hushed tones that drift off seemingly in midsentence......AAHHHHHhhhhh  LOVE

Oh ps Kim, when I wake up in the middle of the night and can't go back to sleep, I ask,  "Okay Lord, you got me up for a reason, who needs prayer that I might aid them unawares?"   Falling back to sleep like that, priceless!

I have come to the conclusion that the state of mind best for praying the Rosary is also the one that is, for me, most conducive for sleep. It's a shame, really, at least sometimes.

The Sisters who taught me in grade school and my mother told me that my guardian angel finished it for me.

I pray the Rosary when I'm plagued by insomnia.  I offer it up for those people in physical or emotional pain that prevents them from sleeping, and I drift off to sleep.

I do this often as well, and sometimes if I continue to wake through the night, seem to sort of pick up where I left off!  On these nights I often wake in the morning continuing to pray the Rosary as well -- what a great way to wake up!  I also often pray the Chaplet of Divine Mercy during the night.

That happens to me too, I just the Jesus Prayer this way:
Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the Living God, have mercy on me a sinner.
http://www.peterkreeft.com/topics-more/jesus-prayer.htm

I found it interesting also, that while my husband was so bad physically these past few months, until he came totally back to us, one could always hear prayer on his lips - even while there was no communication with him.  You could hear the Our Father and you could hear the Jesus Prayer coming constantly from his lips.  That is prayer without ceasing, for the Holy Spirit prays through us in unceasing utterneces.

Off topic I know, but a suggestion.  A friend that has used biofeedback done with the QXCI, with their autistic grandchild.  He could not leave the house, so one parent was always at home with him.  His grandparents managed to get him out, and took him for treatment.  When they walked into the center he was grabbing everything and out of control.  After his first treatment, he walked normally out holding his grandfather's hand, went home, sat on his lap, watched a movie, and ate popcorn for an hour and a half.  It has made a huge difference for him. Sorry for getting off topic.
