Christmas Presents . . . (The 4th Joyful mystery)

Well, it is shopping time again. So, I have been racking my brain to figure out what to get that sweet husband of mine. Lest this be perceived as mushy, while I do love him, we are highly competitive with one another and have been for years. Every year he "wins". No matter what I do he sneaks something in that just blows me out of the water.

Last night, I did it. I picked out the most awesome Christmas present. I took my eldest with me to gain a second opinion. She agreed it was the greatest Christmas present I could get the man. I could do no better. Pleased and proud at having done the best, I asked,"So I will win?"

She shook her head. "No. He will win." I cannot envision what will top my best, but she is right, he will win.

Christmas is the birthday of Christ. What would you bring Him as a birthday present? What will you give Him that is your best? The wise men gave their best from gold to myrrh. Did it even compare to two outstretched hands on the Cross? Whatever you give Him it can never match what He has given each of us. And yet we win because we receive an eternity of loving and being loved by Him.

It is now that the 4th joyful mystery comes home. God loved us so much He sent His Son. He gave Mary a perfect Son. He gave Joseph a perfect foster Son. So, here they go to present this first born male Child at the temple bearing a sacrifice. Theirs was the offering required of a poor man as they were poor. Given perfection in a Son, all they could give back to God was a poor man's offering and yet God was pleased. Such is the nature of our relationship with God. He wins and when He does and we accept that, we win.

Behold good tidings of great joy . . . .
