March For Life in Washington, D.C.: 22 January 2007

(my oldest son will be going to this year's event in a few days; I've been there twice)

Praise God! Still a long way to go, but approximately 400,000 children (based on past statistics) have been saved. See an article from LifeNews.com.

This is good news. I tend to think we over epmphasize the political at times and need to remember that prayer and spiritual enlightenment is the best path to victory. Not that I would not want there to be laws passed making abortions illegal, but sometimes I think it would be better to deal with the people and not the laws.
Anyway, I did read one report that while acknowledging tht abortions are going down, still thinks that one factor is more women are taking certain abortive pills (sorry fornot saying correct term) and that a lot of pregnancies are still being ended prematurely but just in some different ways. And of course there is still a lot of other areas to grow, but we all ought stay prayerful and do what penance and fasting we can to help our land find its way.

The abortifacient birth control pills may be a factor in this, but they have been available for many years, so I would suspect that is nowhere near the main reason for the decline. I really believe that on a human level it is all the hard, persevering pro-life work done for years by many thousands of people, crisis pregnancy centers, and things like abstinence being infinitely more stressed than it was when I was 18 years old, in 1976. Perhaps people are waking up and have a healthy fear of promiscuity, given AIDS and the prevalence of many lovely venereal diseases that have appeared or reappeared. Hence, less pregnancies and abortions as a result. . .

I think I agree with you, Brian.  LOL  Are you saying you want laws passed making abortion illegal, or you do not?

It's not simply abortion that is the problem, it is the reasoning behind it and the why girls/women get pregnent in the first place.  Men need to teach boys to be responsible, be courteous and respectful to women.  Women need to find their own sense of value.  It's a sad chain reaction with the unborn paying the ultimate price.

We also need to continue reaching out to those who have had abortions and let them know that God still loves them, nothing can turn us from his love.

Less women and men of childbearing age, less abortions due the math.

The number iof abortions is now over 48 million.

The total number of lives affected directly from abortion is 48 million PLUS the children that would have been born from these aborted children. Is not the number more like 60 million?
